Kept my attention for the full 60 hours. Six bucks for all 11 was a no brainer.
Revisado: 05-10-25
I found myself liking this way more than I expected. I've been looking for a good dystopia style book, with its cost, it was a no brainer. I really liked all the characters, how each was developed, tragic fallings, redeemed anti-heroes, lots of action, very visually descriptive. My ONLY problem and reason why I only gave it 4 stars for performance, was how the narrator seemed to forget the voices he did for certain characters throughout the books, and their voices seemed to change. One started with a raspy, quiet voice, which eventually turned into a whiney adult trying to sound young, which would've made more sense in the beginning when these characters were 14-16 years old. The older they got the younger he made them sound. One character, started out as a very deep monotone voice, and eventually ended up sounding a softer south African voice! lol I wanted to go back and make sure I wasn't missing something. But at the end of the day, it wasn't of huge importance. Overall, I loved the series, it's one I'd listen to again. It also really made ya think how scary things could get and how often you'd have to risk your life to save the ones you love. 11 books flew by and I was shocked when I realized I'd finished and became depressed lol. Give a listen, you won't be disappointed.

I wasn't expecting much story wise, but because it was King, I figured it would be worth it. So glad I did. I was so sad when it ended. Narrator was fantastic. Probably going to listen again immediately

YOU MUST READ THIS SERIES
Revisado: 07-16-24
I'm normally Grey Man/Tier One/Terminal List kind of guy, along with Stephen King and a few others. But I was looking for a new book, I had several saved in my Wish List. When I couldn't decide, I kept coming back to this series. Seemingly ALL 5 Star reviews. It sounded like an interesting story, because it could happen, most likely will. But I wasn't keen on the female narrator (not a sexist, just with my kind of books, there's never any female narrators, same with the lead character). But, the reviews and the fact that it was the 1st 3 books in the series included with one credit, I gave it a chance.
When I tell you, I could not have made a better decision, I mean even when I got married lol. This book has it ALL, and it's so dramatic and FULL of tense, nerve wracking moments. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I'm into the 4th book and it's stayed that way. I never wanna stop listening or take a break. I'm going to have the WORST book hangover when I'm all done. Most entertaining series I've ever listened to and I'm not even done yet. GET STARTED!!

Why did I wait so long to start this???
Revisado: 05-24-24
I loved this book. Normally I'm all about the Grey Man, CIA, espionage, special forces type stuff, but a few months ago I listened to 11-22-63, by King. Loved it, wondered why I haven't looked into more of Stephen King books?? He's clearly brilliant. So I came across this one, I loved it so much that when I finished, when I tell you I started it again I mean I immediately restarted it in the same sitting. The narrator is great, such great visuals painted, landscape and character's. This need to be a movie ASAP

Just my kind of book, vicious brutal executing bad guys
Revisado: 03-08-24
Great book, probably my fav so far. Big Grey Man, Orphan X, Tier One, Joe Ledger, Terminal List fan/reader. Mitch is winning his way into my heart with Cort Gentry, Evan Smoak, John Dempsey, James Reese, I would kill to see all these guys in a crossover book/movie/series together. I love when the narrator just tells the story, I DON'T however, like when he does voices. Mitch is 34, he shouldn't sound 74. Plus, all the mispronunciations will distract you.

Man I love Orphan X. This was a great one for me. I waited in anticipation for so long for this one and now I'm depressed AS lol. I won't give anything away but I'll say this, the ending will leave you with your mouth agape. Start to finish, the Orphan X series is my favorite series. Every book is so good, the narrator is great, the character development, the action, twists and turns, comedic dialog. I wish I could start all over with it all being new. I've already read the entire series at least twice. Bout to go through Lone Wolf again. I wish Greg churned out books as fast as Matt Roger's, I can't handle the year or so it's gonna take for the next book to come out lol.

Unable to return to the family he loves, he steels himself for the first strike, which D/CIA Jack Raynor delivers in the unlikeliest of forms. Then it’s all-out carnage in dreary Iowa. But in the heat of battle, whispers make their way to Slater’s ears, rumors of an all-powerful puppet master. He hears a moniker, "The Golden One," the name of a faceless serpent who shapes the country from the shadows.

You will not regret this. PLEASE listen to this series
Revisado: 01-24-24
First off let me say, I was introduced to Audible with The Grey Man. Loved it, went through all 12 books, waiting on the third, never thought I could like anything more. I went through the series at least twice, some more than that. My journey took me to The Terminal List, Tier One, Orphan X(which became my new fav), Sons Of Valor, the Joe Ledger series, the Travis Chase series. Loved em all, went back and forth with which was my fav. Looking for a new series, I started the King & Slater series. First book was kinda slow, I almost wasn't gonna finish, but I did. Each book got better and better. The new characters, their development, the stories. Matt Roger's never seem to get writers block on where to go. There's 16 books, and I freaking loved them all. I binged listened, as often as I could. They're all 9 to 11 hours long, so it typically took me a day and a half each. To say I am now depressed that its done is the understatement of the year. I have never had a book make me emotional, but this series did. I freaking loved it sooo much. There are 6 prequel (I think) books based on Jason Kings character that I'm going to listen to now. One, because I want to hear the characters voice again, strangely, just to ward off series withdrawal, but also because after, I'm going back through all 16 of the King & Slater books again. Out of everything I've listened to, I'd recommend this series first.

On the same day Jason King is set to become a father, Will Slater sees a 12-year-old boy on a street corner. There's nothing particularly alarming about the kid, but Slater has a sixth sense when someone needs help, so he steps in to protect. After his vicious deliverance of justice enrages half the Boston underworld, Slater meets the whirlwind of chaos head-on. He made the choice to get involved, so he won't stop until the war is won. As King gets swept up in the madness from the supposed safety of Violetta's hospital room, their battles intertwine.

Same but different
Revisado: 01-15-24
This was actually one of my favorites in the series. It still had everything the K & S series is known for, but the story went a different direction. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. A lot of times an author seems to run out of stories or plots, the characters become one dimensional, but here we are, 9 books deep, and the characters evolve. The story keeps me hooked and I can't wait to see where they go with the new character and situation. Can't wait to start the next book.
