Historia
When her husband is offered a post at a small northwestern university, Maye Roberts is only too happy to pack up and leave the relentless Phoenix heat for the lush green quietude of Spaulding, Washington. But when you're a childless 30-something freelance writer who works at home, making new friends can be quite a challenge. Her attempts to do so lead her to enter a kooky beauty pageant - and to uncover a sinister mystery.

One of my favorites
Revisado: 08-24-22
I have hundreds of Audible books, and I’ve owned this one for years. It’s one I come back to and listen to every couple of years. It is silly and fun and never fails to make me feel good. I highly recommend it.

Historia
Truly Plaice, an overly large and ungainly girl, is the polar opposite of her sister, Serena Jane, the epitome of feminine perfection. With their parents dead, Truly and Serena Jane are separated: Serena Jane to live a life of privilege as the future May Queen and Truly to live on the outskirts of town, the subject of constant abuse and humiliation.

Not EVERYTHING is like something else...
Revisado: 05-20-10
The author uses similes like a dental hygenist uses floss. The exessive use of imagery grated on my nerves like a old rusty gate in a strong southerly wind... I mean really. Sometimes things are just what they are. Plus, she murders a cat. Not cool.
