Historia
A personal memoir written in the true voice of the author as a young boy between the ages of 10-12. He tells the story of his family of 12 children "living in a black house on a hill with parents who often disappeared, sometimes for days on end, leaving us to our own devices." Some current professionals might use the term "psychological maltreatment" to explain what we experienced, long term, on that hill.

Historia
Don and Mimi Galvin seemed to be living the American dream. After World War II, Don's work with the Air Force brought them to Colorado, where their 12 children perfectly spanned the baby boom: the oldest born in 1945, the youngest in 1965. In those years, there was an established script for a family like the Galvins—aspiration, hard work, upward mobility, domestic harmony. But behind the scenes was a different story: psychological breakdown, sudden shocking violence, hidden abuse. By the mid-1970s, six of the 10 Galvin boys, one after another, were diagnosed as schizophrenic.

Bizarre and depressing
Revisado: 06-08-20
This story of a family with numerous children who have severe mental disabilities drones on and on. I made it to chapter 10 then could not take anymore. It is depressing and seems to have no end in sight for these off spring of two self_involved parents. I was exhausted listening to it by chapter 10!

soft porn
Revisado: 06-02-20
A weak story woven around soft porn. Graphic sexual language throughout this ridiculous 'novel'. Wasted my money on another book at Audible. Did not even get half way thru book before shutting it off. Do not plan to listen to anymore

After more than a decade, when sisters Nikki, Sami, and Tori Knotek hear the word mom, it claws like an eagle’s talons, triggering memories that have been their secret since childhood. Until now. For years, behind the closed doors of their farmhouse in Raymond, Washington, their sadistic mother, Shelly, subjected her girls to unimaginable abuse, degradation, torture, and psychic terrors. Through it all, Nikki, Sami, and Tori developed a defiant bond that made them far less vulnerable than Shelly imagined.

This may be a true story but it is the most profane, hideous book that I have ever encountered. Trashy language, unbelievable child abuse and murder are told in graphic details. I could not finish book because it was so horrible! My husband even agrees. My heart goes out to the poor victims who endured this life.

Historia
With a career, a boyfriend, and a loving family, Piper Kerman barely resembles the reckless young woman who delivered a suitcase of drug money 10 years ago. But that past has caught up with her. Convicted and sentenced to 15 months at the infamous federal correctional facility in Danbury, Connecticut, the well-heeled Smith College alumna is now inmate #11187-424 - one of the millions of women who disappear "down the rabbit hole" of the American penal system.

Historia
America's first families are unknowable in many ways. No one has insight into their true character like the people who serve their meals and make their beds every day. Full of stories and details by turns dramatic, humorous, and heartwarming, The Residence reveals daily life in the White House as it is really lived through the voices of the maids, butlers, cooks, florists, doormen, engineers, and others who tend to the needs of the president and first family.
