A Labor of Love
Revisado: 05-14-24
This should be required reading for students. I have been schooled. I’ve read of sufferings and abuse aplenty, but not this thread. I’ve just finished this book. I’m still reeling. I am sure it will become an award winning movie. It’s too powerful a tale not to. At the end of the book Kristen Hannah shares some insights into her journey into writing this book. She nailed it when she said it was a labor of love. Thank you for your hard work and honoring all service people.

Lara is convicted of thirty-two felonies and becomes inmate S32179. Love Wins!
Revisado: 03-26-24
This is a must read. It’s truth, vulnerability, and raw telling of amazing strength and weakness. I have learned so much from reading Loves journey. I had no idea what incarceration was really like for women. It appears in comparison to men, to be completely different. Because men and women are different. The addiction of anything can surpass us unaware as we rely heavily on the external to cancel the noise internal. No matter what the vice, until we surrender, we are not living. The story was at times hard to read, but I pressed on knowing it wouldn’t be a book if it didn’t include redemption. Loves journey to self redemption is thwarted constantly by a very clouded social system, her insecurities, paranoia, persecution by others and herself. She works HARD to press on. Love is an inspiration. As are those “trail angels” along the way. Those that saw her, believed in her, trusted her, supported her. She gives full credit for her freedom to live in the now to those angels while also acknowledging her own hard work. This book is appropriate for anyone to read. It’s valuable to YA audience as well as the seasoned. I’m so glad Lara Love landed and gave us this treasure, her story. Go Lara go!

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Keep the Faith
Revisado: 12-10-23
A wonderful story. It took me back to to
the days of innocence and dashed hopes and questioning God with the still small voice of my faith filled GraMary. She was my mother. She fostered my own faith. Thank you for writing, persevering and sharing this extraordinary book with us. Each of us has an extraordinary life. Thank you for the reminder!

How does she know so much?
Revisado: 09-25-23
I’ve seen this! It’s amazing how deep Francine Rivers goes. She could have majored in psychology! She captures emotion, tension, even sexual tension, brilliantly. So brilliantly that you feel the shock of the cold water as everything blows up. I appreciate all of the hard work she must put in researching. She had to have interviewed many people to get to this level of understanding. Again, I say thank you Francine Rivers for putting yourself out there with your writing. It must have been published with great risk of rejection in our mega-church society. This book is great for anyone, YA to 100. It is a must read.

Revisado: 09-15-23
I just the-read this book. I’ve never done that. I read it when it first came out and decided to read it again. This is one of my favorite books, trilogy. I appreciate where the characters go. It’s clearly laid out and easy to see how our junk is passed down and how misunderstood our imperfect love for our daughters can be. Even as I read and now as I write, I am encouraged. There is always hope. Thank you Francine for your years of hard work and heart pourings. What a blessing and privilege to get to read it not once, but twice.
Stina Nielson, you nailed the narration. I’m not sure if you were influenced or directed by Francine, but your voice and inflections are exactly how my head read it the first time. In fact even better. It had to be you that read this story for it to be so good. Thank God it was you. Many, many people will love the book not just because it’s excellent, but because it’s excellently brought to life in your reading.
Thank you both for a wonderful time. Now for Her Daughter’s Dream.

Gantos’s writing takes the reader to a front and center of how a creative, smart, excitable kid thinks. I love these books and appreciate very much the writing and reading. Don’t stop Jack! Keep writing!

He is STILL not finished
Revisado: 01-02-23
He must have signed a book deal with a timeline in an opioid haze. He is still using something. Besides being an entitled, white man of great wealth and privilege, he slurs and has total cotton mouth. He’s got babysitters in place all over and still lives recklessly. Totally underwhelmed and sorry to have wasted the listening hours.

She was an enviably perfect mother and the wife of Walter's dreams. Together with Walter - environmental lawyer, commuter cyclist, total family man - she was doing her small part to build a better world.

RICH WRITING AND EXCELLENT READING
Revisado: 09-07-22
I love the people and the wonderful way the reader can get to know them. A superb reading and rendering by David LeDoux, a favorite for sure. The story was ok, once I was in I was sticking to it. LeDoux’s reading was a big part of that. The story had some strange sudden stops and turns. I appreciate the thought life of the characters, especially Joey’s. He is too clever for his own good and I loved having such a snapshot into his thinking. I’ve read most of Franzen’s books and he is one of my favorite authors. He goes deep and thorough. He delves into almost TMI thought life, the stuff we would NEVER reveal about our own. Not my favorite Franzen book, but I’ll keep reading until I’ve read them all because I love his style and character depth.

Historia
From the New York Times best-selling authors of America's First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton - a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. In this haunting, moving, and beautifully written book, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza's story as it's never been told before - not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

This is how history SHOULD be taught
Revisado: 07-14-20
A wonderful, wonderful book about young Hamilton, infant America and a bunch of flawed, brilliant, egotistical, narcissistic, men, who managed to put together the beginnings of America. The parallels of the political-and social, climate then and now are so similar. So much has changed and yet nothing has changed, its like marriage. A little uprising periodically is good, to keep from being complacent, but tread respectfully and trusting the untrustworthy with the process may take generations, like it has. Very, very good and interesting book. I highly recommend to anyone high school age and up. If you like historical fiction, you will like this.
The reading and performance was equally brilliant.
