Historia
Award-winning memoirist and New York Times best-selling author Nuala O'Faolain branches into new territory with her biography of the infamous Irish-American prostitute and thief Chicago May. O'Faolain uses May's autobiography, primary sources from the turn of the 19th century, and her own experience as an Irishwoman to bring May and all her heartache, deception, and violence to life.

Dull narration
Revisado: 10-28-10
Could be a better read if the narration wasn't so monotone. I'm really trying to get through this. The story is good but probably better to read than listen to.

Historia
Patty and Walter Berglund were the new pioneers of old St. Paul - the gentrifiers, the hands-on parents, the Whole Foods generation. Patty was the ideal sort of neighbor, who could tell you where to recycle your batteries and how to get the local cops to do their job. She was an enviably perfect mother and the wife of Walter's dreams. Together with Walter - environmental lawyer, commuter cyclist, total family man - she was doing her small part to build a better world.

Horrible
Revisado: 09-27-10
Has to be the worst I've ever tried to get through. I endured the first part of the book and not far into the second part I decided enough was too much. Every character is more disfunctional than the last and reading about a guy spending his college time jerking off isn't my idea of a good read. Call me a square but if that's what you want to read about buy the book. Had I known ahead of time I wouldn't have wasted my credits on such garbage. I can't even give this one star but I had to just to give this book a review; that's how bad it is.

Historia
Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.

BORING
Revisado: 11-20-09
This book was a test of endurance for me to finish it. Way too much skipping and hopping back and forth in the story. I can't even imagine someone thought it would even make a good movie. Don't waste your credits on this one- I almost feel like I should be due a credit back for this poor choice.

Historia
Sister Bernadette Ignatius has returned to Ireland in the company of Tom Kelly to search for the past and the son they left behind. For it was here that these two long-ago lovers spent a season of magic before Bernadette's calling led her to a vocation as Mother Superior at Star of the Sea Academy on the sea-tossed Connecticut shore.

Heartwrenching!
Revisado: 05-21-08
Having grown up in an institution run by nuns I felt a close kinship with the characters. The deepest love, hate and angst is revealed in each character as they strive to make sense of their lives. The role the Church played in Bernadette's decision to give up her child and become a nun, the decision made by Kathleen to go with her parents and leave James behind and the choice Tom Kelly made to be close to Bernadette without the pleasure of having her marry him made the characters real, vulnerable and heartbreakingly believable. I cried for them and couldn't stop listening to the book.
Great story, great narration.
