Fantastic!

I really enjoy TJ Klune and this is one of my favorites. Amazing well developed characters and world building without feeling bogged down in the details. So excited to move on the next book in this series!

Beautiful
Revisado: 09-05-22
An absolutely beautiful story I can’t say enough about the author, characters, and narrator. I feel like I’ve spent the hours I’ve listened to this book with the older women in my very white, very southern, very Baptist family. Born and raised in a time and place where racism was so blatant and accepted I watched many of them make the same journey Mrs. Ora did to realizing mistakes and working hard to correct them. That combined with the mystery and intrigue in this story makes it a must listen for anyone that enjoys southern stories. The narrator is nothing short of perfection.

Caught by surprise

I didn’t expect to love this book this much but it really did catch me by surprise. What a fantastic story about strong women with just the right amount of mystery and murder to make it hard to pause.

Beautiful
Revisado: 04-09-21
Absolutely beautiful book. I spend a lot of time listening to true crime stories so in a way I expected this to be similar to all the others, but it was so much more. Really getting to know the victims was such a treat and so rare in the true crime world. What amazing young women they were and Tom’s story was so heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time. I first found this author through “American Dirt” the writing and storytelling in that book made me curious about her other works. After listening to this one I am on my way to listen to everything she’s ever published. Thank you for sharing your story with all of us.

Great listen but as the story progressed I couldn’t help but wonder were there any black or brown people in this? I definitely know there weren’t any lower income stories included. Still a nice cross section of different areas of the gulf coast, would love to know where these folks ended up 15 years down the road from Katrina.

Everyone has secrets, and Rachel Holloway is no exception. She’s worked hard to keep the past where it belongs: dead and buried. And so far, she’s been very successful. But now the small newspaper where she works wants to produce a podcast on a cold case: the disappearance 12 years ago of young Molly Forster. Some secrets should never see the light of day, and, as far as Rachel is concerned, whatever happened to little Molly is one of them.
