Historia
In 48 hours, the Earth will be hit by a coronal mass ejection (CME) from the sun, a "Carrington Event" that has the power to shut down and possibly destroy the world's electrical infrastructure. To try and prevent permanent damage, everything goes dark prior to the hit: Global communications are shut down; hospital emergency generators are disconnected; the entire internet, media broadcasting, and cell phone systems are turned off. Will the world's population successfully defend itself in the wake of the CME, or will mass panic lead to the breakdown of society as we know it?

Pretty Darn Good
Revisado: 02-16-21
If you enjoy William R. Forstchen's works then you will enjoy this one, yes he mines familiar territory here but its still an interesting listen, moves quickly and the players are interesting.
Only downside is the audio gets a little low so you turn it up and then suddenly a Character is yelling and your eardrums want to cry but overall worth the listen

Set in an alternative reality where "All the President's men" do not get caught at Watergate, this "shockingly believable" novel presents the frightening scenario of what could happen if a powerful but paranoid American chief executive goes out of control.

Bad, just very, very bad
Revisado: 02-16-21
What to say, this novel jumps around like a kid hopped up on Sugar, introduces characters and then introduces more and more and more and did I mention its boring?

Ok first off I am not a Climate Change denier and I believe we need to act soon to change the course we are on
That being said:
What in the great googlymooglys did I just listen to? First off the performances were terrible, the primary narrator sounded like a guy doing an old mans voice and badly at that,
The next issue was the far fetched nature of some of the assertions, they were so outlandish as to be laughable, The United States starts a "Racial purity program" to deport anyone with Mexican heritage seriously? I mean I understand our current political climate is funky but come on, this is so far fetched as to take away from the valid points the author is trying to make.
Oh did I mention, The United states then invades Canada? ya
The Author obviously hates our current President and Republican Party as many do but the hate bleeds through the novel like a sickness and takes away from the overall message and makes it far to easy for Climate deniers to dismiss the valid points
Avoid this book

Historia
Augustine, a brilliant, aging astronomer, is consumed by the stars. For years he has lived in remote outposts, studying the sky for evidence of how the universe began. At his latest posting, in a research center in the Arctic, news of a catastrophic event arrives. The scientists are forced to evacuate, but Augustine stubbornly refuses to abandon his work. Shortly after the others have gone, Augustine discovers a mysterious child, Iris, and realizes that the airwaves have gone silent.

Where to start.....if you like slow meandering novels that explain nothing and try to hard to be metaphysical and deep then baby this one is for you!!
I read the other reviews of this and was impressed, now I wonder if I actually listened to the same book. The main character on earth rambles on and on and repeats himself throughout the novel, the Astronaut character is boring and we never care about her regrets that she obsesses over throughout the entire Novel.
Before purchasing this Audiobook I suggest you take two aspirin and lay down till the desire passes, just awful
*******************SPOILERS*****READ NO FURTHER UNLESS YOU WANT DETAILS!!!****************************
The two Characters do not even interact until the very end of the book and then in only two very, VERY brief exchanges after which the character still on Earth gets a mystery illness and then wanders out into the Tundra to commit suicide by hugging a Polar bear, yes you read that correctly.
The novel ends abruptly with no resolution, to be frank I absolutely HATED this novel HATED with a passion
