Historia
In a moment of crisis for the T'au Empire, the enigmatic ethereal Yor’i assembles an elite Elemental Council – a veteran Fireblade, a water caste spy, a peerless air caste pilot, and a maverick earth caste engineer – in the hope of curtailing the growing insurgency on the planet Cao Quo. But as a full-scale planetary insurrection looms, enemies more cunning than Yor’i’s council could have imagined begin to surface from both sides, and Cao Quo soon finds itself teetering on the brink of being plunged back into a dark age of ignorance, and all-out war.

Tactical, cunning and brilliant.
Revisado: 12-21-24
This is a fantastic novel, and is far better than I expected. Noah has proven how well he writes 40K action and intrigue. While a bit of a slow start, it quickly picks up and keeps you guessing and invested in the story. It is balanced between realism and grimdark, and has something for every kind of 40K fan, be you fanatic of the imperium of man, or sympathetic to the greater good of the Tau empire. Truly a great work of fiction, here’s hoping for more.

Historia
They are the Lost Legions. Famed warriors in the annals of military history, made famous when they struck out for the stars to fight a Savage invasion ... never to return or be heard from again. Until new evidence is uncovered that a Lost Legion sleeps in the pocked craters of a distant mining world. Sergeant Carson Metzger, a replacement pilot for a Republic HARD HK-PP mech unit, is sent to act as security for the science team seeking to confirm the discovery of the fabled missing legion. But when the local miners object to the arrival of Republic forces, tensions simmer to an all-out boil.

A fantastic combination of Battletech-style combat in the universe of GE. This story brings in so many different perspectives to warfare, brotherhood and the baggage it can bring. Blaine had really outdone himself with this one, and it’s great to see him join the universe of the Legion.

Historia
On the prison world of Zartak, darkness has fallen on arbitrators and inmates alike. The Night Lords have come, bringing with them the shadow of fear and pain. But these monsters are not the only ones with an interest in Zartak. From the void, running on silent, another fleet emerges. These Space Marine warriors are grey-clad and white-faced, and their eyes are as black as the Outer Dark – the savage Carcharodon Astra.

Grimdark and violent. The night lords have finally met their match.
Revisado: 07-06-24
A solid space marine novel, and an extremely violent and gory one at that. The Carcharodons are a very interesting chapter to read about, and this story brings all kinds of entertaining twists and turns. The narrator was great, albeit a little choppy at the beginning, but he finds his stride quick. I chalk it up to editing errors. Overall, great novel and I’m hoping for more of them narrated by Shogo.

“I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish, if we were facing a threat from outside this world.” While this concept is untrue for so much of human nature and human government, it is definitely given another look in book 6 of land and sea. Another solid novel from Blaine, looking forward to the next one.

Robert rath paints a painfully beautiful end to Cadia
Revisado: 11-26-23
Probably one of the best 40K novels I’ve ever listened to. Robert Paints a realistic portrait of wartime Cadia from a smattering of places rooted in reality, and it shows. This is believable, and while tragic, has some heartfelt moments and more than a little bit of comedy that will make you grin like an idiot. Worth the read, every bit of the way. Cadia stands!

A stunningly good anthology
Revisado: 11-12-23
After listening to the first three books of land and sea and enjoying the story arc, I was skeptical of how well an anthology was going to play out. That being said, this anthology was great. A lot of variety, and a lot of action. It’s the little things that truly make this anthology a great listen. TDDB.

A solid conclusion for the initial story arc
Revisado: 09-25-23
The third book in the trilogy delivers after the suspense and build up of the first two novels, whilst leaving plenty open for continuation. Blaine builds a very well crafted world, with massive vibes of pacific rim, tom Clancy and Battletech. There is truly something for everyone in the land and sea universe, you won’t regret it.

Revisado: 06-05-23
This book was far better than I ever expected it to be. It unifies the old legion with the modern imperium, the lion learns humility and sets the stage for the next stage of the dark imperium. Here’s hoping we see more escapades from the Lion and his Risen Sons!

Historia
The year is 2033. The world has been reduced to rubble. Humanity is nearly extinct and the half-destroyed cities have become uninhabitable through radiation. Beyond their boundaries, they say, lie endless burned-out deserts and the remains of splintered forests. Survivors still remember the past greatness of humankind, but the last remains of civilisation have already become a distant memory. Man has handed over stewardship of the earth to new life-forms. A few score thousand survivors live on, not knowing whether they are the only ones left on Earth....

A dark approach to doomsday from the viewpoint of a Russian, with mysticism and paranoia aplenty. One of the best science fiction books ever written, in my humble opinion. Maybe one day we will see this tale as part of a movie or television series.
