I struggled with this book

I had a hard time with this book. Kenya was irrationally (out of control, and unprofessionally) angry at the wrong people in this book. and she doesn't really seem to grow at all when it came to work. at the same time, she let her family walk all over her. I found her incredibly unlikeable. and the mmc annoyed me too. the only characters who I liked were the side characters. I'm disappointed because this could have been a story about Kenya learning to stand up for herself in healthy ways. instead it felt like a tale about a spoiled, out of control, over-the-top angry black woman. I'm sorry, but women of color can stand up for themselves with dignity and without raging. wish the fmc had done that here. *sigh*

I loved Act 1 (Pirates of the Carib-Bean Town)

I don't understand the female main character. she's told not to touch the paste, so she not only touches it, she spreads it all over her body. then she hears it's dangerous to humans but doesn't tell anyone. also, she refuses to tell the ANYONE the full truth, then condems everyone around her for not telling her military secrets that put multiple worlds at risk. she clearly isn't trustworthy, so how can she expect trust from others? I couldn't finish this book because I couldn't stand Isabella. also, the random sex scenes made no sense.

"Little Girl" is Not a Pet Name

I DNF'd this book. The age gap between the main chatacters and the fact that the hero called the heroine "little girl made this story uncomfortable for me. The bedroom scenes were cringe-worthy (if he thought she was such a child, why was he sleeping with her, ick), and there was no plot to balance things out.

I'm disappointed. I bought this thinking it was another story in the series, but it's just a 30-minute follow up with the characters (20 years later). Save your credit and get something else.

I expected more

After reading all the rave reviews about this book, I was expecting an adventure romance with a strong, swashbuckling heroine. Instead, I found this to be a Monty-Python-ish collection of silly sketches crammed into a book. it felt like the story was all over the place and REDICULOUS (and not in a good way). I imagine this book will appeal to some readers, but if you're like me and are more annoyed than amused by Monty Python, I'd suggest steering clear of this one. I also struggled with the narrator's style and had a hard time hearing/understanding her.

Skip this book & find a heroine you can admire

I struggled to finish this book. At first, I was willing to hang in there (despite the fact that I think the author went WAY overboard with the hero's faux-pas in London--seriously, doing laundry in a park?!?!). BUT when the "heroine" decided to completely disregard anyone's needs but her own and came up with her super-selfish solution that involved betraying someone she supposedly loved, I was finished. I'd put so much time into the book that I tried to speed through the remainder of the book at triple speed, but I found myself getting increasingly frustrated with the story and couldn't finish. I don't see the heroine as redeemable, and her explanations didn't excuse her actions (especially when there were clearly other options). Very disappointing because I did find some fun and humor in the beginning of the story.

Ridiculous....in the most entertaining way

if you liked the antics of the badass honey badgers in the previous books in this series, this book will make you laugh and shake your head in the same way.

This time we hear the story of Mads and Finn (one of the Malone brothers), but the over-the-top McKilligans, the basketball team members, and other characters are present too. The humor, banter, and (admittedly understated) romance were SO much fun, and I enjoyed this madcap romp from start to finish.

terrible narrator...left me annoyed (not relaxed)

The narrator is impossible to hear unless you have the volume cranked way up, which defeats the purpose of this meditation/hypnosis book. Also, her voice is annoying (imagine a feeling-less computer trying to do a breathy voice).... I could only take 20 minutes before I shut it off. I will be returning this book.
