5 stars for deadly night
Revisado: 09-07-22
Though 5 stars are not something I give out often, this story checked all the boxes for me to allow for the perfect score. though the story was not without its flaws--namely, the rushed ending--the flaws mentioned earlier were minor enough to overlook. The gothic atmosphere and civil war past blended to make a masterful ghost story. The police procedural plot added to the intrigue and horror. The narrator (another flaw...the female voices sounded like drag queens) kept the suspense going with a tense read.

Historia
Portia is sick of the pandemic. She can't go to school, can't see her friends, and the family is stressing about her grandmother living alone. When her grandmother needs help, her father decides to drive out to the farm, and Portia is dragged along. It's a total accident when she's left behind, and her father can't get back to her when the county puts them under lockdown. No one in, no one out. Being trapped on the farm has some perks, but it also has a huge downside: There's a ghost haunting her family. Will she be able to discover what the ghost wants her to know?

a great little ghost story
Revisado: 09-05-22
This was a great little ghost story with a bit of puppy love thrown in for good measure, The performance was a bit choppy, and some words were mispronounced, but this didn't detract from the story.

Audiobooks make everything better
Revisado: 03-04-21
When I first read "All Heads Turn When the Hunt Goes By" by John Farris, I was a kid. I have to say that the first read confused me. I didn't understand a lot of what I had read. I didn't hate the book; I just wished I understood it. When I saw the book on Audible, I remembered reading it as a kid and not knowing for sure what I had read. Listening to the audiobook was a great idea because I now could comprehend the parts of the story that had alluded me the first time around. I'd listen to it again just for the train scene alone. Audiobooks make everything better.

An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, The Passage is the story of Amy - abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued, and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions. But Special Agent Brad Wolgast, the lawman sent to track her down, is disarmed by the curiously quiet girl and risks everything to save her. As the experiment goes nightmarishly wrong, Wolgast secures her escape - but he can’t stop society’s collapse.

Not what I had hoped
Revisado: 03-04-21
When Fox announced a TV series for this book, I was at once intrigued and excited to watch. But first, I rushed to download the audible version and listened. I have to say that the television series was much more fun because the book had too much "telling" in it. Very little of the story happened inside my head; it was dedicated to me instead. I'm sad that the television series was canceled because I would have enjoyed seeing the story's continuation. That being said, I won't be reading the rest of the books in this series.

Wow
Revisado: 03-04-21
What a terrific read is Carrion Comfort. The story is long, but still, I found myself wanting more. The characters come alive, and the story moves quickly. I read certain books (or listen to them) repeatedly, and I think this will be one of those books. I highly recommend this book/writer.

Historia
It doesn't seem like the perfect house, but screw it, it's good enough to rent for a year. Unfortunately for Boyd, Adeline, and their two young daughters, it's immediately clear they chose the wrong place. The nightmare begins with violent coughs and headaches. Food starts to rot almost as soon as they take it inside. A pet tarantula goes missing. Some family members begin to exhibit creepy behavior. Then the ghosts arrive, and all hell breaks loose....

Historia
Although Scott Carey doesn’t look any different, he’s been steadily losing weight. There are a couple of other odd things, too. He weighs the same in his clothes and out of them, no matter how heavy they are. Scott doesn’t want to be poked and prodded. He mostly just wants someone else to know, and he trusts Doctor Bob Ellis. In the small town of Castle Rock, the setting of many of King’s most iconic stories, Scott is engaged in a low-grade - but escalating - battle with the lesbians next door whose dog regularly drops his business on Scott’s lawn. One of the women is friendly; the other, cold as ice.

This was a fun read. The ending was predictable, but other than that was a good story filled with the vivid characters you would expect from Stephen King.

Historia
The star of truTV’s hit show Impractical Jokers - alongside veteran sci-fi and horror writer Darren Wearmouth - delivers a chilling and wickedly fun supernatural novel in the vein of The Strain, in which a beautiful new subway line in New York City unearths an ancient dark horror that threatens the city’s utter destruction and the balance of civilization itself.

This was a surprise
Revisado: 03-04-21
I've been watching Impractical Jokers for years and was astonished to see that Murr Wrote a book. I was surprised at how interesting the book turned out to be. The story was graphic and violent, and the characters were vivid and real. There was also a great dose of comedy as well. I recommend this book to anyone who likes creature features. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel: The Brink.

Entertaining story, intriguing characters
Revisado: 03-04-21
This book renewed my interest in rereading fantasy series' after being denied a conclusion to the Song of Ice and Fire. I truly enjoyed the characters and how they interacted with each other. The story kept my interest throughout. I'm excited to continue with this series, and there are several books in this group. I started this book as a paperback, but when time restraints no longer allowed me to keep reading, I switched over to the Audiobook. I listened from the beginning and was shocked at how lifelike the characters became with the narration. I have the paperbacks of the entire series but will probably listen to books instead. Audiobooks, if done right, are much more satisfying.

It brings with it a young alien named Daufin, a fugitive who has taken human form. She knows the terror that awaits this planet—because it’s looking for her.

A great writer
Revisado: 03-02-21
Rober McCammon is one of my favorite writers. I read all his early books one after another like they were on a conveyor belt. Stinger was a great experience as an audiobook and reminded me why I loved these books so much. The racial tension and tense storyline came alive in my ears.
