Great storytelling, exhaustive research, enlightening, but very one-sided

I love the extensive overview of republican crony capitalist politicians in that era, however, I could find no trace of criticism of the corrupt democrats of the time, and the author portrays bloodthirsty, totalitarian, communist dictators as freedom fighters, loving father figures, and populist national heros. Very competent author with a wealth of historical insight, but his far-left bias is painfully evident throughout, and it colors his retelling of history, for example, he claims, in this book, that the hostile US/CIA policy pressured Castro to instantiate a oppressive police state upon his own people. Nevermind that every example of communism in history has required a totalitarian regime to maintain it, once the people become acquainted with the miseries of that particular delusion. Still, totally worth a listen.

Thank you so much for putting this together. it was very interesting. A real page turner, or whatever the audiobook equivalent is. I will be listening to this at least one more time, and my brother bought the hard copy, so we can study it, and be informed for discussion with the family members who are still in "The Message"

I appreciate that the story teller is honest with his feelings about his dad. Really interesting story, larger than life, a different kind of people.

Where to start? There is so much vital, lifechanging information in this book. Dr. Peterson's ideas in his previous book, 12 rules For Life, lectures and podcasts have helped me to mature, and focus on a purpose, and a plan to achieve it, namely to inspire courage in my family, friends, and to some extent the world.

if you are very strongly attached to the particular ego you have assumed, and all it's attendant assumptions about yourself and your relationships, this book may be difficult to digest. But if you want to become empty enough to let in The Love, or Nirvana, or Holy Spirit, or whatever your belief calls it, then this book is for you.

For an actual psychologist/therapist, he seems to have missed alot of relevant research on the dynamics of the biological feminine imperative. There is some useful information here, but it misses the bigger picture, and generally only works in particularly ideal situations.
