Historia
How can you catch what you can't see? Blind at birth, Alice Bergman's sight has been restored - but her childhood struggles and the assault she endured have never been forgotten. For the last 10 years, she's been secretly receiving letters from her attacker - letters written in Braille. Now a homicide detective, Alice is assigned a murder case. The victim? A blind girl. The scene is preternaturally clean, far more than can be explained in any rational way. Alice is able to relive the girl's last moments - but she can't see the girl's killer.

Alice down the proverbial rabbit hole
Revisado: 02-01-21
I start listening and keep wanting to listen until the end. Now that I reached the end I can't wait to start the next book in the series. It starts off like normal life, though Alice is no normal young woman in her twenties with the heavy weight of trying to stop a sadistic killer and rapist on her plate. Yet soon we go down the rabbit hole with her into the terrifying unknown and the mysterious. I like Alice Bergman and her Seth. As the listener we get to discover just who Alice might be right along with Alice herself.
Alice's relatability and likeability have everything to do with the narration of TJ Spehar, which smoothly and entirely convincingly carries you down that hole along with Alice. Her narration works synergisitically with the novelist to grip you and carry you all the way through and leaves you wishing for more.
Loved it!

Be careful what you dream...when murder is on your mind. Sixteen-year-old Alice is a ghost. Although born blind, the world is more blind to her than she is to it. Until the day she's noticed. By a bully. She did what any girl would do...and wished him dead. When a body is discovered, Alice fears the worst. Could she be to blame? No one would believe her even if she confessed. Because nightmares don't come true...do they?

A Definite "Page Turner"...er "can't turn it off!"
Revisado: 01-26-21
I found myself pulled into this dark world rich in sensation and scent. Kuhnley delivers a dream-like narrative and gifts the reader with the sensations of what it is like to be vulnerable and blind (though only privately so...as it is often in life). I felt like I was traveling down a mysterious hole with Alice filled with darkness and danger. Spehar brilliantly narrates this darkness portraying such innocence, while still giving us glimpses of the fire that lies beneath that innocence...the strength, grit and integrity of Alice. She beautifully transitions to different characters, keeping you in the moment as the listener...traveling through the darkness with Alice...blind and questing. I definitely did not want to turn it off.
