Misery
Revisado: 04-10-25
Big pile of disapointment. This book is written like the Russians love to write. The entire thing is either misery porn or daily whiney dialog from the main kid. No real plot to be seen and nothing is moving forward.

This is like a new Land of the Lost story with more dumb. Bunch of dumb corporate humans jump though a portal totally un-prepaired and a ton of Red Shirts security types take center stage. Seriously what corporation sends a expedition team to scout a location WITH NO CAMERAS. maybe a drone or two ? Don't get me started on the low caliber weapons that the morons are using. You bring stuff with the muzzle energy and penatration to take down BIG GAME

Dex is just your average, everyday I.T. Professional. Eyes tired from working late, the strange glowing gem floating in the middle of his apartment didn’t exactly grab his attention. Until it opens into a portal and starts counting down to his death. In a life-or-death situation, an autistic quality assurance engineer probably isn’t your first choice for a hero. But he has a certain set of skills that catches the attention of the Daemon System as it implements a secret beta-test on Earth.

this book is basically a copy of defiance of a fall the early days. the author continues to use autism as a defining Factor of the main MC, which he does not even show it in the story telling. Look, I don't care if you have autism, down syndrome, ADHD, the point being, it's unnecessary to tell us that when telling a fantasy story.

This is unbelievably painful to listen to and grasp because this kid is a healer and has know real knowledge out side of the medical field and that is generous. The author protects this MC over and over again. . The reader or listener in this case is not described any real world building or setup of any kind. We definitely don't get a baseline of stats on what a typical awakened person is, but the author loves to point out the MC's grandiose stats; but 10 minutes later the MC is struggling to deal with an encounter. It's gets old fast and it repeats over and over.

Reads like a RU Novel
Revisado: 02-06-25
The Russians follow a template of writing, first they must always make the MC suffer, break them down and slowly very slowly build them up all at the same time making the reader/listener deal with the nonsense. This book is the same, the MC is not likeable,
This is a super slow burn. If I didn't know any better, I would think this author was from Russia because this is misery porn, if people don't know what that is, its when an author constantly beats up, drags down the MC. The MC is no one special, just a beating dummy for the author.

Left alive by the men who butchered his family, Arbor has two options: give up and perish, or rise up and fight to take back the life he's lost. To do that, though, he'll have to leave behind the only home he's ever known and venture out into the world beyond. What he doesn't yet realize is that the world is a much more dangerous place than he could ever have imagined. A world filled with magic, monsters, and mythic beasts powerful enough to destroy entire nations!

To much CW
Revisado: 01-13-25
This book kind of started off great but it went right into the CW drama hole of despair. This is very much a YA book and it is marked as such, but holy cow, can we at least get some common sense maybe an IQ over 70 from our MC.

Leaving this review so not to get the next book
Revisado: 11-12-24
""This entire book is farcical, from the system, to the incentives and actions of the people in it.
Also, referring to this MC as 'OP' is just a joke. Any form of overwhelming power he may have is completely balanced by his mental deficiencies and no backbone. This was often a chore and painful to listen to.""

A Deep Sigh
Revisado: 11-08-24
The book started off great, but then came the over repetativeness of letting the readers know how great the MC was in his past life, over and over again. Spoilers below.
++++++++++
After the author is letting us know how great the MC was in his past life. The MC does these totally moronic things. Lets start with the potion crafting. We know the MC can gather and identify a bunch of herbs toss them on the table and the system will let him know what he can make out of them, but only HE can use them. Ok that's cool, but does the moron teach someone from the village what ingredients go with what potion, so they can test out and make some for themselves? NOOOPE.
Another HILARIOUS thing during the 6-8 long chapter battle with the Warlocks. The MC, the great general of the past decides to take his sword and cut open and open the potential tent of the commander of the invading force, and gets immediately blasted in the face, how did he service? Yeah author armor. BUT why didn't this great super awesome general just Fire rain, Fireball the entire tent and watch it burn or summon a rock gollem on top of the tent or outside of it and tell it to run it over?
Yeah the MC is dumb and makes the book feel like it was written by AI. .
