Was Not Ready For This One
Revisado: 10-11-23
I loved this book. It felt like Cormac McCarthy’s The Road, but with a touch of fantasy and a smidge of horror. I was not ready for the ending and I’m so happy I have season 2 ready to go.

Historia
As an illegal clone of the murdered galactic princess, Dora's face would get her killed the minute she steps off her dull farming moon. She spends her days tinkering with gadgets and gears, with Tau, her kitchen-timer-bot, for company. But when forces close in and threaten her family, her escape attempt lands her deep in the Outer Zone — and on top of the Technowitch of Night, crushing her in the process.

Wizard of Oz retelling!
Revisado: 04-18-23
A retelling of The Wizard of Oz in a dystopian future in space? Absolutely!
This caught my attention quickly and I loved every minute of it. As a kid I loved The Wizard of Oz and as an adult I love Wicked and this book was just perfect for me. The action and quest aspect kept the book interesting and I loved the characters and how they fit into this alternate universe. So much fun and now I have to recommend it to everyone.

Historia
Augustine, a brilliant, aging astronomer, is consumed by the stars. For years he has lived in remote outposts, studying the sky for evidence of how the universe began. At his latest posting, in a research center in the Arctic, news of a catastrophic event arrives. The scientists are forced to evacuate, but Augustine stubbornly refuses to abandon his work. Shortly after the others have gone, Augustine discovers a mysterious child, Iris, and realizes that the airwaves have gone silent.

I didn’t see the end coming
Revisado: 04-17-23
Lily Brooks-Dalton has such a take on dystopian novels that I never quite know what I’m going to get. She is becoming an author I’ll try just because her name is on a book. I loved this book. I’m so happy I own it so I can read it again in time.

Historia
Piranesi lives in the House. Perhaps he always has. In his notebooks, day after day, he makes a clear and careful record of its wonders: the labyrinth of halls, the thousands upon thousands of statues, the tides that thunder up staircases, the clouds that move in slow procession through the upper halls. On Tuesdays and Fridays Piranesi sees his friend, the Other. At other times he brings tributes of food to the Dead. But mostly, he is alone.

I just don’t know…
Revisado: 01-07-23
I didn’t hate it. I also didn’t love it. The writing felt stuffy and business-like, and yet I had a clear mental image of what the house looked like. It was like having a clear vision in a thick fog. I finished this book being very confused as to how I felt about it. I’m not disappointed that I read it. I might read it again.
