Historia
Seth Andrews wasn't an idiot during his 30 years as an evangelical Christian. He wasn't unintelligent, nor did his IQ shift when he ultimately left religion entirely. He considered himself thoughtful, moral, reasonable, and at least as smart as the average person. In other words, he wasn't an idiot. Yet strangely, he often sounded like one.

An Intelligent Eargasm
Revisado: 04-02-22
The uncomfortable truth of leaving faith, spoken in mellifluous tones with great humor.
It really is possible to leave behind irrationality, but it is humbling (and humiliating) to look back through clearer lenses at what we used to be like.
Also, what about donated organs from believers during the rapture? Do they just drag along their hosts, or do they get torn free for their reassembly in heaven?
A delightful book, if sometimes an uncomfortable mirror.

How on earth can these guys make me laugh over bad news.
Their scalpel sharp insights cut pretty close to the bone. I've learned things here.

... to protect us. They save us from these holy abominations of film. Masochists with a heart of ... well meat, probably.

Historia
When a band of homeless people cremate a beloved dog in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, the authorities are willing to overlook a few broken regulations. But three weeks later, when the dog's owner gets the same fiery send-off, the SFPD has a real headache on its hands. The autopsy suggests homicide, but Inspector Kate Martinelli and her partner, Al Hawkin, have little else to go on: a homeless victim with no positive ID, a group of witnesses with little love for the cops, and a possible suspect, known only as Brother Erasmus, who proves both articulate and impossible to understand.

Revisado: 03-26-21
Funny and biting commentary on the world we live in and the stupidity of religion.
These folks are irreverent, intelligent, and they will enlighten you and piss off pearl-clutching church-goers who want excuses to hate gays... and they'll have you laughing all the while.

Amazingly researched
Revisado: 07-06-20
This is an incredibly well thought out and researched book. It leaves no safe ground for a Christian Nationalist to stand, and shows just how shallow the arguments are for the notion of the US as a Christian nation, and how insidious their tactics are.
I think on reflection I would get this as a hard copy rather than an audiobook.

Historia
The downside to faking your own death is that people tend to get upset when they find out they’ve been had. In Atticus O’Sullivan’s case, they’re upset enough to come after him to make sure he dies for real this time. Yet he can’t remain in hiding anymore: He has to bind his apprentice, Granuaile, to the earth so that she can become the first new Druid in centuries.

Science bashing
Revisado: 08-04-19
A meandering story that consistently bashes science, and never really convinces the reader about ghosts that "Sally" hears.
I had a hard time dragging myself through it.
