Historia
In 1999, Clark Elliott suffered a concussion when his car was rear-ended. Overnight his life changed from that of a rising professor with a research career in artificial intelligence to a humbled man struggling to get through a single day. At times he couldn't walk across a room, or even name his five children. Doctors told him he would never fully recover. After eight years, the cognitive demands of his job, and of being a single parent, finally became more than he could manage.

A Revelation About Healing
Revisado: 01-25-16
As a teacher who is always looking for brain information to pass along to my students Iwas looking forward to new knowledge, which I did receive, however there was little I can use. The author is an amazingly brilliant , detailed man who wrote in great detail. I learned, but got bogged down in many descriptions. Overall I am in awe of the methods used in his healing and in his memories. This book should be required reading for any health care workers dealing with brain injury.

Get ready for your empathy to be tapped
Revisado: 10-21-15
Would you consider the audio edition of I Am Malala to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print, but the voice drew me into the story.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Of course Malala. She is a very mature girl with an unusual mind set..
Have you listened to any of Archie Panjabi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Many moments did. I lived in Pakistan for 6 years and could visualize her circumstances in many instances, they took me back to that country and the culture she portrayed.
Any additional comments?
Actually, I am sorry to see her working with the United Nations these days. It seems she has become a political pawn in a time when global control is at our doorstep.

Listened twice then bought the book
Revisado: 10-21-15
Would you consider the audio edition of The Secret Life of the Grown-Up Brain to be better than the print version?
They each serve a different purpose. The book is good for reference and review, the audio for when your hands are busy and you want your brain entertained and informed.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked it all. Her stories were so down to earth and I could relate to them all despite the fact that I am well past the age 55 group the book targets.
What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Secret Life of the Grown-Up Brain?
I have incorporated many parts into the lectures I give on health and the brain.
Any additional comments?
One of my favorite "health" books.

Historia
In 2003, software engineer David Miller left his job, family, and friends to hike 2,172 miles of the Appalachian Trail. AWOL on the Appalachian Trail is Miller’s account of this thru-hike from Georgia to Maine. Listeners are treated to rich descriptions of the Appalachian Mountains, the isolation and reverie, the inspiration that fueled his quest, and the rewards of taking a less conventional path through life. While this book abounds with introspection and perseverance, it also provides useful passages about hiking gear and planning.

I "hiked" the whole trail with him
Revisado: 10-21-15
Is there anything you would change about this book?
It could have been a lot shorter and I would have appreciated it just as much.
Would you recommend AWOL on the Appalachian Trail to your friends? Why or why not?
Probably not unless it was someone bored to death with their employment or someone who hikes a lot.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Christopher Lane?
don't know
Did AWOL on the Appalachian Trail inspire you to do anything?
Yes, to pick a different kind of book next time. I have lived a life filled with a good deal of what I have wanted to do. I can relate to his urge to leave home and do something different, but what he did is not really of interest to me.
Any additional comments?
I can't believe I made it through the entire book but my hands were busy the whole time and I was submerged in a project so it all worked out well.

Revisado: 10-21-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I have no doubt many would be able to follow all the information and gather new knowledge. It is too much for me, I asked for a refund after the upteenth mention of another chant.
What didn’t you like about Professor Robert Greenberg’s performance?
Boring.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Exasperation!

What did you like best about Heroes and Legends? What did you like least?
It was well read and written as well as being informative.
Too many names with all the stories, it all ran together by the end.
What did you like best about this story?
It was all interesting.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No, it would be chaos with so many stories, characters and circumstances.

This is NOT about evolution, but humanity
Revisado: 10-21-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Africa Trek I to be better than the print version?
I have no idea, I didn't read the print, but I doubt it, because I build a 100 foot grow box when listening and I would not have been in inclined to read a book instead.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The author. He is a nice guy who people like and accept as a friend.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not at all.
Any additional comments?

This classic tale is a fantastical fable of two dear friends - one of whom goes astray and is literally lost to the north woods, while the other undertakes an epic journey to rescue him. This charming, strange, and wonderful story is a timeless allegory about growing up and the challenges of staying true to one's self, and it served as the wintry inspiration for the blockbuster hit Frozen.
