Most complex of the series so far

CW: child is kidnapped, raped, abused. It is talked about as history, and memories of the MC. As adult, mc is still being mentally tormented by one of the abusers.

This is probably the most complex and toughest to listen to of the series to this point. Basha has been through sooooo much for so very long. The two mc’s get their HFN, it does end with unresolved issues as they are still chasing Leonius and Abaddon at the end of this one. Sands always seems to end these books rather abruptly, I wouldn’t mind getting epilogues for a lot of the couples.

Narrator does a really good job, Abaddon is especially creepy and evil. I don’t think any of the narrators so far have presented Lucian how I hear him in my head, but I like how she did the MC’s and Abaddon.

Best narrator of the series

I’ve read this series several times, and this time through, I’m listening to them too. This was my favorite narrator so far - he did an excellent job with the characters and I really liked it!

Can’t miss - great story!

I listened to this on a work trip last week - it was wonderful! I laughed and slapped the steering wheel and teared up and got warm fuzzies. And bought the print version too!

Perfect romance

I actually liked the high school flashbacks (I did not like high school). I liked that there was an entertwined history and some characters may get future books! I laughed, I cried, I could see my friends having some of the same conversations. Good performance by the narrators as well!

Fun story, great storytelling!

I’ve read and re-read the Half Moon Hollow series by this author, and I’ve had the first two Bayou books in my TBR pile for a while. I read those recently, and then kept going with the two (so far) Audible only books in the series. The narrators who have done these books do an excellent job, y’all. Accents, tone and pacing all work so well with the storyline, you get sucked in and find yourself laughing, groaning, gasping in shock at a reveal, and otherwise responding to the story while driving to work in heavy traffic. Thanks for making it so enjoyable to keep going on a good series. I’m looking forward to the next one!

Enemies to friends to lovers

I really enjoyed the story and the narration! The mc’s irk each other at first, then start learning each other but keep the teasing banter going throughout. The story was entertaining and the mc’s grew and worked stuff out without being too bogged down in it. The voices, intonations and pacing of the narrators made it seem as though I was in each mc’a head for that part of the book.

Great narration on a very good book!

I’ve read the HellSquad series 4? 5? Times now and decided to listen this time thru. I liked both narrators - good pacing, sounded s lot like the characters in my head, and really brought the story to life. Give it a try!

Great story!

I downloaded this to listen to on a six hour round trip for work. I got so wrapped up in the story, I finished it the same evening on my headphones. I also went and downloaded the author’s other books to go through this week.

One of my favorites!

I’ve read the Dragon Kin series five or six times by now and am going through it again. This time I downloaded the audio to listen to at work. I very much enjoyed the storytelling and the characterization and pacing was excellent!

Waiting on the next one..

I hadn’t listened to audiobooks in a long while, and ended up listening to the first Project Gliese Book when I joined Audible. I tried reading the second book, but kept hearing Mr. Brenin’s voice in my head, so ended up listening to that one too! For this third one, I bought the Kindle version, but refused to read it until I could listen to it first. S E Smith writes and excellent science fiction romance and David Brenin’s storytelling talents are spot on. I’ve really enjoyed all three books to date, and I’m eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.
