Historia
Some say that this work, found in a safe-box in the port area of Kowloon, was dictated because Bronze Age Pervert refuses to learn what he calls "the low and plebeian art of writing". It isn't known how this work was transcribed. The contents are pure dynamite. He explains that you live in ant farm. That you are observed by the lords of lies, ritually probed. Ancient man had something you have lost: confidence in his instincts and strength, knowledge in his blood. BAP shows how the Bronze Age mind-set can set you free from this iron prison and help you embark on the path of power.

In this monumental and provocative history, Patrick Buchanan makes the case that, if not for the blunders of British statesmen - Winston Churchill first among them - the horrors of two world wars and the Holocaust might have been avoided and the British Empire might never have collapsed into ruins.

He’s almost there
Revisado: 10-25-24
Quality of analysis really drops off at 1945 VJ Day. Pat presents the case that limited war was possible if not for Churchill and highlights the reasonable peace overtures that any humanitarian would accept. But the analysis becomes more and more shallow the more recent the events are.
Reader is trash at this. Inconsistent vowel/consonant sounds between attempts at the same word. Butchers anything and everything from another language.

Historia
The fighting between the German and Russian armies in the Rzhev Salient during World War II was so grisly, so murderous, and saw such vast losses that the troops called the campaign 'The Meat Grinder'. Though millions of men would fight and die there, the Rzhev Salient does not have the name recognition of Leningrad or Moscow. It has been largely ignored by Western historians – until now.

Books about Germany and Russia should be read by an advanced speaker of both.
Author is good when reciting facts and painting narrative but his analysis sections ought to be omitted because they are trash.

Anarchism has been both a vision of a peaceful, cooperative society — and an ideology of revolutionary terror. Since the term itself — anarchism — is a negation, there is a great deal of disagreement on what the positive alternative would look like. The black flag comes in many colors.

This book is a failed experiment with seemingly 100’s of readers quoting at too much length from other authors.
The content is useful to get a handle on the basket of nonsense known as anarchism viewed as a whole not through one of its component lenses.

Reader botches many pronunciations. I guess it just seems like an unresolved story because nothing was ever really recovered from the expedition. Will keep moving through Grann’s catalog though.

Historia
Steven Rinella (The MeatEater Podcast) and Clay Newcomb (MeatEater's Bear Grease podcast) gather listeners for a new round of stories, this time drawing from the lives of the rugged Long Hunters, who include such figures as Daniel Boone, Henry Skaggs, and Kasper Mansker. These were the commercial hunters and trappers who explored and exploited the First Far West, the land across the Appalachian Mountains, in the era between the Seven Years War and the American Revolution—one of the most fabled periods of American history.

Historia
In 1908, near Folsom, New Mexico, a cowboy discovered the remains of a herd of extinct giant bison. By examining flint points embedded in the bones, archeologists later determined that a band of humans had killed and butchered the animals 12,450 years ago. This discovery vastly expanded America's known human history but also revealed the long-standing danger Homo sapiens presented to the continent's evolutionary richness. Distinguished scholar Dan Flores's ambitious history chronicles the epoch in which humans and animals have coexisted in the "wild new world" of North America.

A far cry from American Serengeti
Revisado: 05-19-23
Dan has totally lost the thread here. To discuss climate change this much you have to define your terms and explain it. The way that concept is used here is as a club of propaganda to beat the reader. Dan insists on pushing defunct theories of human predation to explain the extinctions that in 2023 seem most likely to be caused by extraterrestrial impacts. He certainly understands natural history and tells it well but a large chunk of this book is shot through with lazy political statements and subpar science. And if the reader says butt instead of butte one more time I’ll lose my mind.

Historia
At stake in 1896 was the new idea that some landscapes should be collectively, permanently owned by a democratic government. Although many people today think of public lands as an American birthright, their very existence was then in doubt and dependent on a merger of the talents of these two men. Natural Rivals examines a time of environmental threat and political dysfunction not unlike our own and reveals the complex dynamic that gave birth to America’s rich public lands legacy.
