First book actually has me Irritated

it is amazing to me how Daisy's implicit bias towards all things with artificial intelligence blunts her critical thinking. it is a point of true irritation. Her intelligence is absolutely lost as she made multiple mistakes based on foolish assumptions. Down right stupid multiple times. Hmmm interesting 🤔 . Reading other reviews really makes me want to cut my losses on this one. That it may more than 1 book for her to stop being stupid...no.

Seriously, this series, for me and my son, is the measuring stick for all the books in the genre. The last book lived up to my expectations. With as many books as I listen to, that's rare. Bravo!

Epic Tragedy

Man, swore I would write a bad review if the evil in this book went unanswered. But in reality, this book is the most realistic look at how evil persist no matter how many evil people receive some measure of justice in the end. The battle between the light and the shadows it caste never ends. And the unrelenting balance between the two is a sobering reminder that neither ever truly prevails. The swing of the pendulum is relentless and ruthless. Profound and sad. Good book. Damn good but probably won't read this one again. The imagery is stuck with me. No need to relive it.

Best ending ever! Dreaded most of the beginning as it was predictable. The magnitude to which Elijah is lost wasn't. Damn if you didn't end it with HOPE. Unless it drives him mad. Please, one mad man is enough! Great Job!

This was a deep dive into the emotional insecurities of a black woman born out of place. Surrounded by people who didn't look like her or understand her but carrying around her neck the yolk of the inhuman treatment that we people of color have known since slavery. In this, I see her come out the other side finally knowing beyond a shadow of doubt, she is black and proud even with all the baggage and future fights destined to come. She reminds me of my 16 year old daughter, born from a Nigerian mother and me, a black man born in Macon, GA. I too can track my ancestors into the depths of slavery: From a slave plantation in Haddock, Georgia to me, the famly's first Doctor. And now I see my daughter who, unlike me, is raised in a neighborhood filled with nationalities and races different from hers. She is overflowing with talent and with a brilliant mind but not entirely sure where she fits in. Yes, she is in Jack and Jill. But even with the advantage of two black parents, she struggles to relate at times to many of the shades of blackness she is now exposed to. She is finally coming into her own. I see her finally claiming her space in our diaspora and I am both proud and afraid. Man, I feel this book! I brought my daughter a copy. I know she will feel it too. Bravo.

it's no question that this has been one of the best audible books I've ever listened to. and I could not have thought of a better ending. it was perfect! Had you smiling and crying all at once! perfect!

This was the best I have heard since Sovereign of the Seven Isles. Great story. If you love the world of Mythical Dragons and Warrior Magi this book is a must!
