Narrator that does not pronounce names the same...
Revisado: 10-25-24
The stories are good, but I had an issue with the narrator. There are many other books in the series out, but yet she pronounces the names of major characters very differently. It to me threw me off the story and who was being spoken about.

Historia
Jessie lets everyone believe that she doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her. It’s easy to do if you keep everyone at arm's length. Most people see her tattoos, piercings, and multi-colored hair and come to their own conclusions about her. Why bother even trying to correct them? It’s easier to hide your demons if people don’t look past your armor. She has her best friend and a pseudo-brother, she doesn’t need anyone else.

story is good, struggled with the narration
Revisado: 10-15-23
the story is good, but the narration felt rushed and hard to follow. character lines blended into each other, and there was no natural pauses in the reading. like the story, but may avoid all audio books with this narrativor in the future as it took away from the enjoyment.

Historia
It's not every day that a beautiful, naked woman falls out of the sky and lands face-first on grizzly shifter Berg Dunn's hotel balcony. Definitely, they don't usually hop up and demand his best gun. Berg gives the lady a grizzly-sized t-shirt and his cell phone, too, just on style points. And then she's gone, taking his XXXL heart with her. By the time he figures out she's a honey-badger shifter, it's too late. Honey badgers are survivors. Brutal, vicious, ill-tempered survivors.

If you know the characters background...
Revisado: 04-11-23
if you have knowledge of the characters background, then the narration will bother you. For example, a character that is from the state of Maine is given a blatic accent, or a character from the state of Washington is given a New England accent. Took away from the storyline.

Historia
Thor's hammer is missing...again. The thunder god has a disturbing habit of misplacing his weapon - the mightiest force in the Nine Worlds. But this time the hammer isn't just lost, it has fallen into enemy hands. If Magnus Chase and his friends can't retrieve the hammer quickly, the mortal worlds will be defenseless against an onslaught of giants. Ragnarok will begin. The Nine Worlds will burn. Unfortunately, the only person who can broker a deal for the hammer's return is the gods' worst enemy, Loki - and the price he wants is very high.

Better narrator then the first book...
Revisado: 04-21-21
This was a slightly better narrator then the first book, but no by much, Same issues I had with if the character is based in Boston, make sure that the narrator can pronounce things correctly along with do the proper accent. This also played into names being pronounced drastically different then the first book. Even if it is a different narrator figure out how the name should be pronounced and keep it consistent. I felt less like I wanted to stop the book and give up, but still will be hard to listen to again and again.

Historia
Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother's mysterious death, he's lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers. One day, he's tracked down by an uncle he barely knows - a man his mother claimed was dangerous. Uncle Randolph tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god. The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday.

Good book, struggled with the narrator
Revisado: 04-21-21
The story is great, and I have enjoyed reading the book a few times. But I really struggled with the narrator. If the character is based in Boston, make sure that the narrator can pronounce things correctly along with do the proper accent. But more than that, the changes from character to character were rough and often not a difference that was noticeable. Many times I was tempted to stop listening.

Better as a physical book
Revisado: 07-15-20
The book is much better as a physical book vs an audio book. The material was good and interesting, but did not flow the same way as a physical book does and shows the material.
