Historia
In Everthing Is F*cked, Mark Manson turns his gaze from the inevitable flaws within each individual self to the endless calamities taking place in the world around us. Drawing from the pool of psychological research on these topics, as well as the timeless wisdom of philosophers such as Plato, Nietzsche, and Tom Waits, he dissects religion and politics and the uncomfortable ways they have come to resemble one another. He looks at our relationships with money, entertainment, and the internet, and how too much of a good thing can psychologically eat us alive.

Made me think
Revisado: 11-16-22
Very interesting ideas. He made me think of what is important to me. I'm a church lady so I never would have picked this book but my son in law highly recommended it. I'm glad I listened to it and I'd recommended it everyone. Thanks for writing it.

Historia
When Michael Fanone self-deployed to the Capitol on January 6, 2021, he had no idea his life was about to change. When he got to the front of the line, he urged his fellow officers to hold it against the growing crowd of insurrectionists—until he found himself pulled into the mob, tased until he had a heart attack, and viciously beaten with a Blue Lives Matter flag as shouts to kill him rang out. Now, Fanone is ready to tell the full story of that infamous day, along with exploring our country’s most critical issues as someone who has had firsthand experience with many of them.

Great insights
Revisado: 10-22-22
I appreciated the honesty and clarity of Michael's book. Sometimes it was hard to hear the f word used, but, it did convey his anger and disappointment at the events. I cried at the pain inflicted on the officers. Also. it was really hard to hear how members of congress, Unions and other officials denied and ignored the officers. The officers risked their lives and deserve better. I agree with Michael's suggestions for improvements. I'd love to see the Republicans work with the Democrats to have national reforms to make a safer America for everyone. Thank you for writing this historical book.

Taped Talk instead of book I was disappointed.
Revisado: 07-09-22
I thought I bought a reading of the book. But, it was a taped talk he gave at a Buddhist Center. In Part 1, instead of covering what was in the book, he was asking the people what they wanted to hear. In Part 2 he gave a talk and answered questions. He didn't cover Red Brain, Green Brain or 12 Jewels etc. (although there was 1 reference.) He mentioned many Buddhist ideas; some he explained and some he didn't. He was an interesting and humorous speaker. He sounded very knowable. I bought the Audible version so I good hear it before buying it as a gift. Now I'll look for another book.

Historia
Heather McGhee’s specialty is the American economy—and the mystery of why it so often fails the American public. From the financial crisis of 2008 to rising student debt to collapsing public infrastructure, she found a root problem: racism in our politics and policymaking. But not just in the most obvious indignities for people of color. Racism has costs for white people, too. It is the common denominator of our most vexing public problems, the core dysfunction of our democracy and constitutive of the spiritual and moral crises that grip us all.

Understanding
Revisado: 02-20-22
I've been on a search to try to understand why there seems to be so much hate in our country. Through her research and stories I understand so much more now. Heather explained every thing so clearly. She has a great voice that is easy to listen too. She ends with positive ideas on what we can do. I highly recommend this book!

She covered a lot of history. When will we learn from our past mistakes? She also had good ideas about education and things to improve our community. Enjoyed her story and how she tied it all together.

Historia
Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”
