Historia
Vlad Taltos is on the run. Again. This time from one of the most powerful forces in his world, the Left Hand, who are intent on ending his very lucrative career. Permanently. He finds a hidey-hole in a theatre where the players are putting on a show that was banned centuries ago...and is trying to be shut down by the House that once literally killed to keep it from being played. Vlad will take on a number of roles to save his own skin. And the skins of those he loves. And along the way, he might find a part that was tailor-made for him. One that he might not want...but was always his destiny.

Big improvement over Tsalmoth
Revisado: 08-14-24
Much better with the narration this time around, Vlad especially. Kragar still sounds weird as a Yiddish Norseman but 's what it is.

Historia
Vlad Taltos is in love. With a former assassin who may just be better than he is at the Game. Women like this don’t come along every day and no way is he passing up a sure bet. So a wedding is being planned. Along with a shady deal gone wrong and a dead man who owes Vlad money. Setting up the first and trying to deal with the second is bad enough. And then bigger powers decide that Vlad is the perfect patsy to shake the power structure of the kingdom. More's the pity that his soul is sent walkabout to do it.

Solid story, sub-par narrator
Revisado: 07-27-24
The story is great, as per usual from Steven Brust. However, the change from longtime Taltos series audiobook narrator Bernard Soetoro Clark to Kevin Stillwell was a bad move. Despite his past work narrating the Khaavren Romances and having experience with several of these characters, he inexplicably and frequently messes up pronunciations of names, and gives established characters like Kragar, Morrolan and Loiosh wildly-different accents that drastically alter their characterization and the general tone of the book. Yiddish Kragar needs to go away and never come back

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Excellent story, competent narration
Revisado: 03-25-23
Excellent book as usual from Weir, but Ray Porter's narration is very hit or miss. Should have gone with RC Bray again as his version of The Martian is by far the superior narration of the two.

Fantastic as always with excellent narration!
Revisado: 11-23-22
GE is by far the best sci-fi / military series out right now and KTF Part 1 is a prime example why. Anyone remotely interested in either genre should sign on as a GE Insider and catch up, you won't be disappointed. Big props to Jason Anspach and Nick Cole for their incredible storytelling and just for being great guys who take care of their fans because they ARE fans.

Simply put, one of the best sci-fi series ever made. Required reading if you even remotely enjoy Star Wars or anything like it, imo it's even better.

Historia
It’s been over six months since the eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano. Alex and Darla have been staying with Alex’s relatives, trying to cope with the new reality of the primitive world so vividly portrayed in Ashfall, the first book in this trilogy. It’s also been six months of waiting for Alex’s parents to return from Iowa. Alex and Darla decide they can wait no longer and must retrace their journey into Iowa to find and bring back Alex’s parents to the tenuous safety of Illinois.

Mike Mull8n is a solid author and GARBAGE narrator. Utterly kills the momentum and irritates throughout.
