Historia
In a time when our political and cultural views feel more polarized than ever, Tyson provides a much-needed antidote to so much of what divides us, while making a passionate case for the twin chariots of enlightenment—a cosmic perspective and the rationality of science. After thinking deeply about how science sees the world and about Earth as a planet, the human brain has the capacity to reset and recalibrates life’s priorities, shaping the actions we might take in response. No outlook on culture, society, or civilization remains untouched.

Couldn't get past the liberal narrative
Revisado: 12-27-22
I had several people that I respect recommend this book to me, so I thought I would give it a shot despite the author's bias towards progressivism. the concept is one that I agree with and thought I would enjoy the book for that sake alone, but he comes at things from a progressive mindset. although it's not blatant it's definitely there. In one of the early chapters he talks about how science, and the understanding of science, would help governments govern better and the people choose better leaders.
It's sneaky and sounds good but that's not the American way. The American way is that we the people become better educated and govern ourselves more rightly. the fact that he defaults to the government ruling better and making better decisions shows how off-kilter he is with his narrative. So it wasn't a book for me.

Historia
Tim Kennedy has a problem; he only feels alive right before he’s about to die. Kennedy, a Green Beret, decorated Army sniper, and UFC headliner, has tackled a bull with his bare hands, jumped out of airplanes, dove to the depths of the ocean, and traveled the world hunting poachers, human traffickers, and the Taliban. But he’s also the same man who got kicked out of the police department, fire department, and as an EMT, before getting two women pregnant four days apart, and finally, been beaten up by his Special Forces colleagues.

Just incredible!
Revisado: 07-23-22
Wow! What an amazing life Tim Kennedy has led this far. He's truly an American legend. I really appreciate the openness in the book and the time he spent calling out his friends that have supported him along the way.

The best so far!
Revisado: 06-17-22
Loved it, which is no surprise given Carr's talent for this genre. This was a fun departure (or at least felt like it) from the straight thriller and into a bit of the sci-fi, which was super fun and well balanced with the grounded narrative. I'm excited for the next installment!

Wow, the amount of research that went into this book and the number of topics really impressed me. The entire narrative flows very well and the subject matter is extremely relevant to modern society. Highly recommend!

Revisado: 12-31-21
honestly, when I began reading this I had no idea what the book was going to be about. and true Jocko style, he brings his own spin to writing this fiction book. the book itself reads more like a screenplay then your standard fiction novel, and that's one of the things that makes it so unique. it's a fun and relatable story, with a lot of moral lessons that can be drawn from it. can't wait to see what he does next.

Great story, confusing voice actors
Revisado: 09-20-21
The story is legendary, but this production is pretty terrible. The original narrator was great, but they tried to dress it up with other voice actors which made it less enjoyable.

It's a radical, provocative idea: We're not entitled to get offended or stay angry. The idea of our own "righteous anger" is a myth. It is the number-one problem in our societies today and, as Dallas Willard says, Christians have not been taught out of it.
