Historia
In the heart of the South Pacific lies Point Nemo, the most desolate and remote place on Earth. At its core is a dead zone, devoid of life, where government agencies crash their obsolete satellites and space stations, confident they won't harm a soul. When the International Space Station suffers a catastrophic failure and plummets through the atmosphere, it's here that Mission Specialist Julie Rohr, an astrobiologist studying living space dust called xylem, finds herself marooned. Julie's only hope for rescue lies in the hands of her estranged father, Dr. Finn Maddern, a renowned mycologist.

Great world building that left me wanting more!
Revisado: 06-28-24
As a long-time fan of Kevin Hearne and his previous series of books, I'm always excited to see where his WACKY brain will take me when he tries something outside of his "Norm" and I must say The Hermit Next Door didn't disappoint!
I was impressed by how much world building could be packed into 2.5 hours. The story and characters left me wanting more! At one point as i was walking and listening to the story i thought to myself i hope there is another book to continue the story! LOL
Great job Kevin and Annalee!

Morgan used to be a pretty normal guy. He went to college by day and played online games by night, leading his guild into new conquests - until he got hit by a car and a dude wearing a wet suit appeared in front of him. The man offered him a new chance at life in a world he had created, a world with similar rules to the games Morgan loved to play. There is the promise of great rewards and power, he says, if Morgan manages to complete the Tower of Power.

The story just couldn't hold my attention.
Revisado: 06-19-24
I got halfway through the book but the story couldn't hold my attention. I thought things were looking up after they built the guild but after a while I didn't care what happened so gave up.
I think it might have been the narrator as pretty much all the voices sounded the same. The performance felt very flat with no feeling/emotions from the characters.

A very satisfying finale to the series!
Revisado: 11-11-22
A very satisfying finale to this series by Jasper T Scott and Nathan Hystad.
I'm always a little hesitant when it comes to the last book because it's so easy to ruin an entire series with a bad ending but I was very pleased with how this was all wrapped up. There even seems to be a possible hint at future books maybe an offshoot or another story in the same universe.
And its a Ray Porter narration so you know that parts great!

Historia
Commander David Bryce returned from his mission, successful, with a derelict alien ship that wasn’t as empty as predicted. With the assistance of an old ally, David is hell-bent on stopping the invasion before it begins. There’s just one problem; the Signal is hidden somewhere on Earth. Atlas Donovan is the only man capable of helping them, and it’s unclear whether he can trust the ORB employees. One thing is clear: Aliens have been to Earth, and from the looks of it, not just a single race. There were two.

Absolutely loved everything about the characters and this world the authors created. Gripping, fast-paced black ops/military-ish sci-fi what more can you ask for?
Ray Porter is fantastic as usual!

Revisado: 07-27-22
I usually love this genre and books from J. N. Chaney but this story and characters just didn't draw me in. Seemed VERY slow for a book about genetically altered space marines.
I pushed through the whole book hoping the story would get better so i could listen to the rest of the series but it just didn't and now i wish had returned it and saved the credit.

Each book in this series just seems to get better!
Revisado: 06-11-22
The Forgemaster Cycle series was my first exposure to author Joshua C. Cook and so far I'm definitely impressed and will be looking for his books in the future.
Each book in the Forgemaster Cycle series just seems to get better and this was no exception! The characters are well build and really suck you in to the world he has built and make you care about what happens to them.
My only very small criticism is the ending seemed a bit rushed and i was left with the feeling of "wait its over already?".
