No big surprises, but it was fantastic! What a fun listen! It’s a pretty quick listen and the narrator does a great job.

I listened to the audiobook version. Its a very quick story, and starts out present day with a husband and wife who's kids are grown and out of the house, but flashes between the present and the past to when the kids are younger and still at home. The story had a surprise ending that broke my heart.

I think the audiobook is the way to consume this story. The narrator was perfect! Honestly, this was gross, but soooo good. The first part of the book, I actually said Ewww several times and I really think it was because I was listening.
I really enjoyed this! If you have or haven’t read this, I really recommend it and strongly suggest you consider the audiobook.

Vanity Kills is an impressive read that mixes medical and body horror while diving into big themes like identity, self-acceptance, and the pressure society puts on us about beauty. The story follows a clinical trial for a mysterious drug that promises to fix physical issues like scars and broken bones, plus help with body dysmorphia. But as things progress, it becomes clear that the drug has some really dark secrets, leading to unsettling changes in the participants and some shocking events that turn their lives upside down.
Summers creates a gripping horror story that pulls readers in, skillfully showcasing characters grappling with their insecurities and desires. Each character feels genuine and multi-dimensional, helping readers really connect with their struggles and quests for authenticity.

The story starts out slow, allowing you to get to know Garrett, and his friends and neighbors. Then we jump over to NYPD with a seasoned officer and a new recruit and then working out their partnership. After that the story takes off and goes off the rails, with Garrett losing his mind. All the death, all the gore. Some deserved and some sad, but all gruesome. I will say I did feel a little bad for Garrett at the end. All he wanted was relief from the pain.

Jonathan and Michelle are two of the most creative (and disturbed) minds in horror. In a good way! As soon as I saw this book posted, I knew I had to read it. A Necrotel. I’m howling! They put so much upfront effort, with merch and a website.
Now warning, this is transgressive horror, which is like splatterpunk light, if I’m explaining it correctly. Or as Duncan Ralston explains “Baby’s first splatterpunk”. And it’s about a hotel for Necs, as they are called, so don’t really need a warning.
I listened to the audiobook, and it was amazing! I loved the voice the narrator uses for Merl.
The story is told from the POV of Ellis, whose wife has just died. You follow his “adventures” through Motel Styx and trying not to spoil anything, I love how you really get to know Ellis as time progresses. Little peeks into his personality are seen throughout, but you don’t really meet him until the end.
This was so much fun to read. What a wild time! Well done!

I loved reading this in PB, but the audiobook is so much better. The narrator does such a great job of capturing and conveying the emotion of the text and creating a realistic atmosphere.

I am familiar with the author as an extreme horror writer, but want to make clear this isn’t extreme. So don’t run away! Great plot build up and character development, so you really feel like you know the characters. And it is horror, so I was expecting something to happen, but when it did, I literally said “Um…what was that again?” It’s a very quick listen and the narrator did a great job. His monster voice was a little cartoonish, so that detracted from the horror some. But overall, great story.

I wasn't aware it was satire. It was challenging to get into, but once I was into it, it was easier to follow along. In the beginning,I was struggling with the presentation of the health conscious individuals from California as anti-vaxxers. It's usually the opposite, with the small town locals who are usually opposed to vaccines. May be that should've been my first hint it was satire. Regardless, I went into this story blind, and it wasn't what I was expecting. It was a fine story and premise,I just found the main character too annoying and whined too much. Most would find that funny, I'm sure, but it just drove me crazy. Anyway, it wasn't a bad story, it just didn't resonate with me. I do recommend that you give this book a read. it wasn't a bad story, I was just a little ambivalent about it overall.

The Tata thief - Sea Caummisar

I need more! I need to know why she went off the deep end!
I devoured this story and it made me laugh and then it made me angry. I have a personal connection to this story, so I had all the feelings about it.
It’s the first story I’ve read from this author and I’m definitely going to read more!
It’s listed as extreme horror, but I didn’t feel it was extreme. I’d trust the author’s classification over mine though.
