Historia
The strange tale of a boy named Flea starts in Rye, NY. It was all very normal. But soon his parents divorced and his mother Patricia remarried a jazz musician. Flea's stepfather frequently invited musicians to his house for jam sessions which sparked Flea's interest in music. The family moved to Los Angeles, where Flea became fascinated with the trumpet, idolising musicians like Miles, Dizzy, and Louis....

Flea's story
Revisado: 12-16-19
I expected crazy stories and a look behind the scenes of one of my favorite bands. I got everything I wanted and much more. I loved the narration, you get what you came in for, an interesting wording choice and Flea's unmistakable voice timber acting out everything. I understand the man better and I am glad he got so lucky at the beginning and got wiser later in life.

Historia
What does everyone in the modern world need to know? Renowned psychologist Jordan B. Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research. Humorous, surprising, and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.

Could have been a lot shorter
Revisado: 06-20-19
I mainly think Dr. Peeterson did have a great story to tell. The rules themselves are quite interesting but simple, though the tongue & cheek element is a bit corny. His writing is poetic and refreshing except when he takes himself too seriously and begins to be somewhat inconsistent; maybe he is trying to be too profound and falls short. I believe he relies too much in biblical passages and some of his arguments don't make sense.
What I loved the most were his personal stories and anecdotes.

Historia
Does nature really make us feel better? The 3-Day Effect takes a look at the science behind why being in the wild can make us happier, healthier, and more creative. Whether it’s rafting down Utah’s Green River, hiking in Utah’s wilderness, or walking through Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC, scientists are finding that the more exposure humans have to nature, the more we can benefit from reduced anxiety, enhanced creativity, and overall well-being.

It's not a "real" effect
Revisado: 06-05-19
The author frames her story as if it were science but even the scientists she interviews tell her it's really not. The book tells a cute self discovery story and some interesting experiences but it shouldn't be sold as more than a journalist's quest to overcome her divorce while interviewing people who underwent trauma, in nature. A serious scientific effect is measured statistically with a large enough sample, but it'll be boring to tell THAT story for the target audience of this book.

Part 1 of Godless, "Rejecting God", tells the story of how I moved from devout preacher to atheist and beyond. Part 2, "Why I Am an Atheist", presents my philosophical reasons for unbelief. Part 3, "What's Wrong with Christianity", critiques the bible (its reliability as well as its morality) and the historical evidence for Jesus. Part 4, "Life Is Good!", comes back to my personal story, taking a case to the United States Supreme Court, dealing with personal trauma, and experiencing the excitement of Adventures in Atheism.

¡Genial libro e historia!

Historia
Frustrated by her students' performance, her relationships with them, and her own daughter's problems in school, Susan D. Blum, a professor of anthropology, set out to understand why her students found their educational experiences at a top-tier institution so profoundly difficult and unsatisfying. Through her research and in conversations with her students, she discovered a troubling mismatch between the goals of the university and the needs of students.

Revisado: 05-11-17
Where does I Love Learning; I Hate School rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
What about Laura Jennings’s performance did you like?
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Any additional comments?

Historia
Music is an integral part of humanity. Every culture has music, from the largest society to the smallest tribe. Its marvelous range of melodies, themes, and rhythms taps in to something universal. Babies are soothed by it. Young adults dance for hours to it. Older adults can relive their youth with the vivid memories it evokes. Music is part of our most important rituals, and it has been the medium of some of our greatest works of art.

Great content, awful editing
Revisado: 05-19-16
I really loved every bit of the content. The lectures are well prepared and careful designed so that the information is contextualized, arriving at the right time. However, I can't forgive the fact that the editing is just terrible. I know that people will make mistakes while reading, and that's where the editor comes in and fixes the audio. There are too many times where there are hiccups, words mispronounced and the flow stops; which could have been fixed beforehand. I hope the they receive enough complaints to make it right.
