Historia
A guitar, a box of junk, and a pile of trouble...Fifteen-year-old Otter is in a dark place. Child Services wants to put him in foster care, or even a home for troubled youth. Living on his own, he’s one bad decision away from the street. His band’s first gig is only two weeks away, but his crush on their new lead singer has him tied in knots. Then he inherits a box of random junk from a dead grandfather he barely knew, only to discover that the junk is infused with his grandfather's memories.

A fun story
Revisado: 01-18-21
I really enjoyed the premise of this book, the thought of the memories of loved ones echoing through our lives from the items they've left behind. It was a bit hard to listen to at times, only because I wanted to smack Otter upside the head and tell him to stop insisting on standing on his own, but overall I found it to be enjoyable and insightful.
The narrators both did a fantastic job - I enjoyed the life they lended the characters and while I haven't been a huge audiobook fan in the past, after audiobooks being the only way to entertain myself for three days after getting lasik, I'm becoming a convert.

Historia
Twelve-year old Caleb Wallace has spent his summer at Autumn Springs, coaxing his papa out of his room when he's grumpy, attempting to gain the affections of a certain nurse, and pulling himself together when his grandpa looks right into him with nothing but a dull stare. Seems the only thing that puts a light in Papa Clem's eyes is a family heirloom - an old folktale involving Robert Johnson's harmonica down in Arkansas. Caleb is happy to listen; two things Papa Clem can still do well are tell a story and play the blues.

Touching story with excellent narration
Revisado: 01-18-21
This is a touching story for anyone who has a loved one with dementia. It's thoughtful, well written and carefully, lovingly crafted. The narrator, Ian Hawkins, brings it to life. I listened to this while recovering from lasik surgery & barely noticed the time passing because I was so invested.
This is one of those stories that's going to stick with me for a long time.

Historia
I’m not like those other freaks. The kids who can look inside your head and bring your nightmares to life. The weirdos who can steal your luck or make a thing true just by wishing it. The outliers born from the mess that followed Armageddon. The ones you call Moonflowers, half mockingly and half afraid. They’re the mistakes that humanity hates - and needs. I’m not like them. I’m worse. And I’m the only thing standing between you and the legions of heaven and hell. (Petal - The Armageddon-Lite Archives)

A fun romp
Revisado: 07-01-20
Told in a style partially reminiscent of a radio show/podcast, partially as a snark diary from the point of view of the main character. The narrator (Ian M. Hawkins) brings the characters to life - providing the proper amount of snark for a main character like this. Hawkins kept the story engaging and before I knew it I had finished this title within 2 days (honestly within about 24 hours), despite not normally listening to audiobooks.
Overall I enjoyed this audiobook greatly. I found it satisfying and engaging to listen to. The writing kept the book moving along, and while I have some minor issues (sigh... why does the appearance of <insert female characters here> matter at certain points.... It's not like the MC is critiquing how alluring his male counterparts look in the midst of battle/intrigue, don't you have better things to think about, even in passing, Petal? Sure is nice to be reminded that *checks notes* all the female side characters are attractive. I might have forgotten otherwise) I would be interested to see where the next volume takes Petal.
