I definitely recommend this book. This fictional story takes takes place during WW1 in Montana, from the perspective of a teenaged homesteader who inherited a claim that she has one year to "prove up" in order to own outright. It was not too fanciful, but definitely a work of fiction, based on the author's research about life in the area during the late 19-teens. Our family enjoyed the very engaging story of Hattie Big Sky, and it was hard to turn it off. We look forward to more from this author. (There are two baking recipes at the end of the book that we will be trying soon.)
The narrator was excellent, giving different voices and accents to various characters. Her voice was pleasant and steady, but varied and interesting during non-conversational reading. Five stars all around.

More like a document than a story

I slogged through this book after watching the recent movie by the same name. It was like reading a document instead of being a story. there were occasional fun tidbits but it's a dry read. Not a total waste of time, but don't expect drama or excitement.

Entertaining and humorous

My children enjoyed listening to the story of Princess Cora and the Crocodile. They giggled and belly laughed and are begging for more.
