Historia
In May 1940, the course of history hung in the balance for five long days while Churchill’s War Cabinet debated whether to negotiate with Hitler or continue opposition. In this compelling narrative, scholar and renowned author John Lukacs draws on memoirs and papers to convey the drama of those troubled times. Prime Minister Winston Churchill, regarded by many to be hotheaded, has only been in office for a fortnight when a quarter of a million British solders become trapped by the Germans at Dunkirk.

Wonderful for serious history buffs

I have got I guess a little past wanting to know the broad facts of history. If you like Antony Beevor or Max Hastings then you will likely enjoy this book. Wonderful.

Historia
A work of remarkable scholarship that moves with the swift pace of a John le Carre thriller, A Spy at the Heart of the Third Reich is a chilling addition to the literature of espionage. In 1943, a young official named Fritz Kolbe from the German foreign ministry arranged to meet with Allen Dulles, then an OSS officer in Switzerland and later the director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Historia
Based on hundreds of hours of interviews with Sneum, Mark Ryan describes how Tommy made an incredible escape from Denmark in a battered old Hornet Moth aircraft - which he had to refuel in mid-air by climbing out on the wing. Later, he escaped from Denmark again - by walking across a treacherous frozen sea on which two of his companions died. Tommy brought over precious intelligence about the Nazi radar installations in Denmark and their atom bomb.

"Lest we forget" An absolutely brilliant listen for those who wish to appreciate the unbelievable breadth and depth of struggle in WWII.
Very credible story readily referenced within the audio book itself (I mean many explicit references that the reader can investigate. I did not investigate any myself. I did do a few google searches etc and found many hits, links etc corroborating the story. It would appear this is one of those stories where life is more fantastic than fiction).
Staggering.
