In this video, we dive deep into the subject of the Younger Dryas. An interesting period right at the end of the last ice age when humanity was first developing. There is a lot of misinformation about this subject and here I hope to dispel some of the nonsense.Support the Show.

A good explanation of all the current theories & a debunk of the Netflix series about lost civilization by Graham Bruce Hancock.

Historia
Even through the roar and effervescence of the 1920s, everyone in New York has heard of Benjamin and Helen Rask. He is a legendary Wall Street tycoon; she is the daughter of eccentric aristocrats. Together, they have risen to the very top of a world of seemingly endless wealth—all as a decade of excess and speculation draws to an end. But at what cost have they acquired their immense fortune? This is the mystery at the center of Bonds, a successful 1937 novel that all of New York seems to have read. Yet there are other versions of this tale of privilege and deceit.

It felt incomplete
Revisado: 12-02-23
It felt like a multitude of similar stories. It also ends abruptly. This might be a better book to read, rather than to listen, because it is hard to follow unless you are very good at tracking names through generations.

Historia
Kathleen has always been dramatic. She suffers from the bizarre malady of experiencing stabbing pain in her feet. On her 16th birthday, she woke screaming from the sensation that her tongue had been cut out. No doctor can find a medical explanation for her pain, and even the most powerful drugs have proven useless. Only the touch of seawater can ease her pain, and just temporarily at that.

Very Depressing
Revisado: 07-14-23
The story is an interesting opera, but it is an opera; therefore, exceedingly sad. Not really my cup of tea; although, well executed.

Historia
What will the future hold for those who are left? Koli has come a long way since being exiled from his small village of Mythen Rood. In his search for the fabled tech of the Old Times, he knew he'd be battling shunned men, strange beasts and trees that move as fast as whips. But he has already encountered so much more than he bargained for. Now that Koli and his companions have found the source of the signal they've been following - the mysterious "Sword of Albion" - there is hope that their perilous journey will finally be worth something.

Very different presentation
Revisado: 05-22-23
This is not like anything I have read before. The characters are flawed, a very believable realistic group of individuals. Told in 1st person narrative style. It was great!

Historia
A body always tells a story - but this child’s was a blank page. Rita reached for the lantern. She trained its light on the child’s face. "Who are you?" she murmured, but the face said as little as the rest of her. It was impossible to tell whether, in life, these blunt and unfinished features had borne the imprint of prettiness, timid watchfulness, or sly mischief. If there had once been curiosity or placidity or impatience here, life had not had time to etch it into permanence. Only a very short time ago, the body and soul of this little girl had still been securely attached.

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

Historia
Written only months before Austen's death in 1817, Sanditon tells the story of the joyously impulsive, spirited, and unconventional Charlotte Heywood and her spiky relationship with the humorous, charming (and slightly wild!) Sidney Parker. When a chance accident transports her from her rural hometown of Willingden to the would-be coastal resort of the eponymous title, it exposes Charlotte to the intrigues and dalliances of a seaside town on the make, and the characters whose fortunes depend on its commercial success.

But Shining is now something more than human. And the scrapyard is no longer just a scrapyard, but a place full of secrets. This life she has built, while empty, is predictable and safe. Different Sci-Fi, but a bit heavy handed
Revisado: 01-29-20
I liked the concept. The story was not about the cats; although, they did figure in as an aside. The jargon was over the top. The story spent too much time on the setup and jargon. In fact the story was over the top too. However, if she cuts back on all the tech talk and killing, and expands the hive concept, the character, and political intrigue, I would read the sequel.
