Dirty talk
Revisado: 04-02-25
The story was interesting. I was disgusted by the sex talk. I don’t understand why there had to be so much explicit discussion about their sex lives. Didn’t finish because of that!

Historia
Jackson Brodie has relocated to a quiet seaside village, in the occasional company of his recalcitrant teenage son and an aging Labrador, both at the discretion of his ex-partner Julia. It's picturesque, but there's something darker lurking behind the scenes. Jackson's current job, gathering proof of an unfaithful husband for his suspicious wife, is fairly standard-issue, but a chance encounter with a desperate man on a crumbling cliff leads him into a sinister network—and back across the path of his old friend Reggie.

Great narrator!

I think I would have enjoyed this more as a paper book! It was confusing to me. I started over three times and finally just went for it. I was confused about who was who throughout the book. If I could have turned back pages, I would have gotten more out of this.

Historia
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

This is by far the best audio book I have listened to in a long long time. I wish I could rate the performance TEN stars. I listened to this believing it was a true story. As a biography, it would be a five star read, as a work of fiction, it is a ten star read! Just listen to this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried to finish this.. I listened to about 3/4 of this book. It drove me crazy. I couldn't figure out if the wording or the narration was juvenile. Though I wanted to know how it ended, i finally had to give up. SO irritating to listen to.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

I loved this book!! My parents (and my husbands parents) lived in the Netherlands during that time. WHY don't we know about their lives!? I cried for hours after I was done listening.. I could easily begin again. We have read many terrible stories about the Jewish people at that time of history....TERRIBLE... We have read much about the war itself... but this told the story of the "women of the war"... All I can say is that I have NO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN... PERIOD!! FANTASTIC book. Brilliantly read!

Is it bad to like the girls???
Revisado: 10-15-14
The narrator(s)? did a great job. I feel badly that I liked the "wicked girls". It is scary how dumb choices by anyone, but especially children, can ruin their lives!! There was an odd clunking sound throughout the book and it became stuck a few times. Not sure what that was about. The story kept my interest even though I felt that the story dragged on a bit.

Historia
A mesmerizing, moving, and elegantly written debut novel, The Language of Flowers beautifully weaves past and present, creating a vivid portrait of an unforgettable woman whose gift for flowers helps her change the lives of others even as she struggles to overcome her own troubled past. The Victorian language of flowers was used to convey romantic expressions: honeysuckle for devotion, asters for patience, and red roses for love. But for Victoria Jones, it's been more useful in communicating grief, mistrust, and solitude.

Loved it!
Revisado: 08-29-14
I am not sure that the message to this story is one I would like my teenage daughter to read. I didn't raise my kids to run from their problems... but that said, it was a great book. I loved it. I loved the narrator! I was sad to have it come to an end! Read it... but read it before you give it to your daughter and decide if you think it is the right lesson to teach!

Typical YA Story...
Revisado: 03-14-14
This is a typical YA story... young girl does the right thing and gets herself into a better place. I enjoyed it though. The Narrator was fantastic and the story was very good! It was a light read... but worth the time. I would have liked the ending to be her big dream coming true, but it would have made the book that much more predictable. It was good!
