Rhea Perlman and Dracula?

I loved the first book, liked the second, but this book was filled with so many boring descriptions of Millie's inner-mom-dialogue and mundane moment to moment suburban family tasks, I could barely get through it. So. Much. Boring. Cliché. Filler. Ugh.
The only thing I really did like was how the author censored the neighbors predation and sick impulses. Thank God for that discretion.

I tried. All throughout books 1 & 2 I tried to picture Millie as a pretty, young blonde- but that voice and accent 😳. All I can see is Rhea Perlman.
This narrator made a poor character choice when bringing Millie to life.
It's odd because she does a fine job voicing all the other characters, smh.
Also, why can't Millie pronounce the name of ANY car maker??? Quite a few other mispronunciations of ordinary words- it hurt my ears. Hi-yun-di. Nope.

Aside from these problems, I did enjoy the story with all it's plot twists and surprises. Very engaging and worth the listen!

Incredibly superficial and predictable. I hoped there’d be a turning point where this babysitters club story became a professional piece of writing. No such luck. 1/10 do not recommend unless you have a delightfully low IQ.

Good story. Best part was Stephanie Hsu's narration. She could make any story come alive and hook you.
I wish she would narrate more for audible. Worth listening.

Cara Bastone's signature flavor 🍭

CB's writing is sweet and charming, and not to be taken seriously, but instead enjoyed for their novelty. Yes they're all basically the same novel- same plot, same 2 main characters, same male lead for sure (a little annoying in his over abundance of chivalry and "true desire to help everyone he sees...like... 24/7 😳) But they're a novelty and pass the time when I need to check out for a bit. Need to get lost in something simple, fun, and shallow- Cara delivers just that.
They're cute and harmless- but not intended to be thought-provoking. Sometimes I have to turn the story off every half hour or so, because theres only so much mind-numbing-flirtatious banter one person can take in an afternoon 😵‍💫. But her stories are charming in small doses.

only thing that really bothers me is that the depth of language and accepted ambiguity is inconsistent throughout her novels. Meaning the story is so tame, they never talk directly about sex or use explicit language. UNTIL they scrap the family-friendly vibe for a paragraph or two of using the term "fuck-boy" multiple times and with carefree abandon, as if they're using the term "handsome gentleman" or something equally innocuous.
I don't mind vulgarity, and I'm fine with the term FB, but it's just radically out of place in every CB story. They repeat the term 3-5 times, and then return to wholesome G-rated content. It's just so awkward and out of place. Pick a parental rating and stick to it, guys.
But overall these are enjoyable performances to take your mind off your worries for awhile

UNICORN CAST!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is well written- but it was the PERFORMANCE that made this story come to life in a way you will never forget. Unicorn level cast- Stephanie Hsu specifically blew this so far above my expectations -I subsequently searched out and listened to every other title she narrates (which is very few, unfortunately). I will listen to this a dozen more times and have stars in my eyes each time 🤩

The author was just the right narrator for her own story- I felt like I was sitting across a table from her being told firsthand this riviting story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Stephanie Hsu. She was the redeeming factor. I would listen to anything she narrates. And I proved it just now by listening to this terrible story all the way through. Not a fan of the writing or plot or storyline. But the narrations were great.

A fleeting escape from your own life

It's short, entertaining and you get to check-out for an hour or so. Delightful performance. Didn't love the ending but all in all it's worth the listen.
