Good Read. Off-putting reading.
Revisado: 01-05-19
Although I thought he did a wonderful job of reading Great Expectations, Federick's reading of Ivanhoe was so off-putting I had to get another version to finish listening to. The reader's cadences and pauses were too much of a distraction and hindered my understanding of the text.

Historia
In a tiny, dilapidated trailer in northeastern Oregon, a young woman saw a vision of the Virgin Mary in an ordinary landscape painting hanging on her bedroom wall. After being met with skepticism from the local parish, the matter was officially placed "under investigation" by the Catholic diocese. Investigative journalist Randall Sullivan wanted to know how, exactly, one might conduct the official inquiry into such an incident, so he set off to interview theologians, historians, and postulators.

Misleading Title
Revisado: 09-30-16
This book is much more a history of the politics, history, and mystery surrounding Bosnia and Medjugorje than anything else. The author does explore many other miracles, mostly Marian apparitions, but spends such an extensive amount of time on the area around Medjugorje and its historical context that his thesis gets lost.

Historia
Standing as one of the most revered works in all of English literature, Great Expectations traces the development of Philip Pirrip, called Pip, from a boy of shallow aspirations to a man of depth and character. Pip is reared by his sister and her husband Joe Gargery, a blacksmith. In his youth he is influenced by the eccentric Miss Havisham, who was jilted on her wedding night and who has brought up her adopted niece Estella to hate men.

No expectations, wonderful result
Revisado: 03-27-05
This is the first audiobook I have received and did not know what to expect. The narration was superb, and the characters charming. The reading was not hurried or pedantic and the various voices I felt very well fit the personages being represented. I cannot disagree more with the reviewer who disliked the reader's voice and characterization, but, to each his own I suppose. I highly recommend this version of the story.
