Separate the elements would be boring and repellant. But throwing them together creates an early game of thrones like story but in an underused mythical setting. The goddess from the house of hailstones is by far my favorite.

You can tell that Gw was really tightfisted with its IP in this one. The author has to break his stories spine to avoid having official Tyranids in the story. It could have been a very interesting book. If there is a sequel I will check it out… but I will read the reviews carefully

Looooooong fuse little bang

I was very hooked at first cool premix icky bad guys but then it started copying the bad parts of dragon ball, For me all the steam leaked out of the story when it took 4-5 chapters to arm and throw a magic grenade across a room.
Pass unless it’s on sale or you are a rabid fan

Redefining the limits of my disappointment

They took a fun lite video game story and removed the fun and video game. Things get introduced and forgotten while threadbare characters are slowly pulled into piles of fuzzy yarn….. god like powers and space pirates suck when limited to the complexity of a merry go round. The author has lost the magic of the first book, I hope they find it again for the third.

Disappointed

Really liked the first book, it was fun and I loved the course the character charted. The end was awesome with illusions and time trickery… and in the sequel he becomes a gnat crossing an interstate freeway. He loses powers without explanation… and what leads to success and or failure seems less about choice and more about reaching a quota of the blandest filler.

Bad in all the bad ways

In the dystopian future you too can steal everything but the copper pipes fromPokémon, you to can be a beta male musician who whines constantly about “why do all the jerks get laid and not the nice guys like me” you can explore the well trod ground of what happens when a goofy loser gets a harem…… I was enticed at first but the book adds nothing new to the universe and I was parched by its lack of creativity l

Dragons head serpents tail

Great start, world may have been interesting but story goes off the rails, main character legit a murder hobo who indirectly kills a neighbor and steals his corpse to get better stats. I was hoping for more and my hopes were broken on the books aggressively average story. Only buy if you need something to put you to sleep
