The recording/editing was pretty choppy and weird for the first hour or so. The narration suffered because of this.

The narrator has Lynde's voice down pat.

The story seemed rushed (maybe because of the editing) and not well researched. I got to the part where Paul died and it was like "...and then he died and had a funeral. The End."

BLAIR BROWN IS THE BEST NARRATOR. Story was quick and fascinating. Wished there were more but if thats all there was, thats all there was. Ann Rule is a legend of true crime.

How can a story about cannabilism be so inspiring?

What did you love best about Desperate Passage?

The facts are undeniable and horrifying- settlers resorting to cannablism. What I found most shocking though was how inspiring a story it was. I have never been so motivated as these people were to pick up and leave my life and travel into the complete unknown.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Desperate Passage?

When the Donner party is rescued was not how I imagened.

What does Christopher Prince bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

After his introduction about cannablism, which was hard to listen to- he calms it down and is more subtle and matter of fact.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Just what I said earlier. It is hard to wrap your brain around cannabilism but after you read -- you get it. And somehow, it's still scary but you understand.

Cary Grant was Gay and other stories

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I think this is an important addition to the history of Hollywood- even if you aren't a Cary Grant fan.

What did you like best about this story?

How it brings you into Hollywood of that period. That is exactly what I wanted and that's what I got.

What aspect of Marc Eliot’s performance would you have changed?

He does a good job- it's his book he knows how to read it. He does say "Such as it was" a lot. :)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I think his relationships with women were sad. It's sad that at that time society forced him into tho

Any additional comments?

I think this is a very important, honest look at the life of a gay man in Hollywood. It left me with the sense that "gay" didn't exist in the early part of the century. You were expected to get married, have kids, etc- whether or not sexuality or sexual orientation was linked to it.

Revisado: 09-10-12

Would you listen to Furious Love again? Why?

I wouldn't listen to Furious Love again only because I don't think I have ever listened to an audiobook twice.

What did you like best about this story?

It showed the beginning of megastardom and the fascination with the private lives of celebrities even more than their work as actors. Just like reality stars of today (although they had talent) Liz and Dick began to take their stardom more seriously, I think, than their work.

Have you listened to any of Paul Boehmer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I havent- but I will say he does a tremendous job. He has a voice for every character. It puts you off for 2 minutes but after listening you really appreciate his enthusiasm for the characters and the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me feel like I was in this 60's world of excess and appreciate how we have changed as a culture. There have always been stars, whether royalty or movie stars- we need them for inspiration, hope, escape.

Would you consider the audio edition of Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy to be better than the print version?

So thankful that Jackie chose to record her thoughts on the presidency. Her commitment to the preservation of history is very clear, even amidst her grief at the time. Really fascinating insights on history and her personality. Although, I could listen to her read the phone book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy?

How she stated that she hated the French! So candid.
