EXCELLENT!
Revisado: 01-07-24
I love this epic saga of space justice. There were a number of times that I laughed out loud. Some funny stuff in here as well as a variation of voices from Jeff Kafer, whom I absolutely adore, keeps the characters separate in the telling. Great stuff.
I am a crafter and jewelry maker. I can put this series on and listen for hours without interruption. I appreciate the length of these books very much.

A very transformative Journey
Revisado: 04-26-23
This was suggested to me by my husband. He has a friend at work that is reading this. I picked it up to see why he thought it would be good for both of us. Let me tell you, I was not expecting the way this book opened up the old wounds and helped me realize why they were still being deployed for protection? Odd how we carry things for years and never really realize why. It was not comfortable to poke old wounds, but it relieved me from letting them control me anymore. It was very helpful for our marriage.
One criticism I have is that the chapters are mislabeled. The player is telling me it is Chapter 6, when in fact it is chapter 5 and so on.

This is So Relative to Our Current Times
Revisado: 08-27-22
This struck me how similar the disease [The Rapture] is to the pandemic that went around the world [Covid] and has killed hundreds of thousands of people. It is a post apocalyptic plot one can relate to. It reminded me somewhat of Lucifer's Hammer where society needed to be rebuilt after a global catastrophe. People had to reassess what skills were important. This story also had a good mix of skill assessment and diversity in order to pull off the tasks the group needed to accomplish.
I would have liked to have heard a larger distinction in the character's voices. At times, it was difficult to tell who was saying what. But it is a good story, It kept my interest.

Skipped the Interludes and Dreamers
Revisado: 01-09-22
Those portions were just weird. They sounded like an LSD experience. Didn't really see them adding much to the story.
The end was rather abrupt and no explanation if Amos was there a 1000 years later, how he survived, were the other black eyed kids with him? Where was Teresa and her dog? Too many open ended questions at the end of this story.
What eventually happened to Jim Holden? Did he die? I have to assume so. Naomi was stoic and oddly quiet about losing everything at the end of the battle. Somehow this left me wanting more information on their outcomes which wasn't proffered.

Historia
John Bandicut and his companions are summoned to a star-cloud called Starmaker, known to humans as the Orion Nebula, to discover what force threatens newborn stars - and possibly every world within a thousand light-years. Their journey takes them not just into the perils of a stellar nursery, but into confrontation with the Mindaru, a billion-year-old AI and adversary of life as they know it. The task is daunting. But with the aid of Deep and Dark, sentient clouds who are perhaps the strangest beings they have met yet in their exceedingly strange journey, there may be hope.

Many Advanced Technologies Used By Adversaries
Revisado: 11-06-21
This book is far out - talking to stars, aliens that look like fried eggs, losing their sentient AI's left and right. This segment of the story is very chaotic, as the series is named. I hope the sequel to this has more plausible storylines.
The narrator is very talented, and kudos to him in creating voices that depict computers talking and aliens [names and language] which brings that character to life.
Wish the characters would pay better attention and stop responding with What? in a tense/dangerous situation.

Jace Hughes is a Daydreamer!
Revisado: 10-25-21
This guy daydreams and delays at every extreme situation. He often has to be reminded of the events occurring at the moment. All too many times he responds with, "What?" like he was in his head remembering some long past event. He is so aggravating!!! Why is there no respite from the war? It is a forever war and no rest for the weary.

Would Like More Female Voice for Female Characters
Revisado: 10-23-21
The narrator is depicting a female character but his voice doesn't reflect that. It is sometimes hard to tell when the female officer is speaking. I usually like Luke Daniels, but this time he missed the boat on Chief Carson.

Revisado: 10-18-21
Dash is always off in his head while the battle and circumstances require his full attention. Many times I shouted WAKE UP YOU FOOL, or RUN!!!! This story elicits the most reaction from me. It is exciting, and always provides the problems and solutions by the skin of their teeth. I have been binge listening, and want more!!! Great series. I love Cheney's Renegade Star series as well.

Captivating Performance of Compelling Story
Revisado: 10-16-21
I love this series. It is engaging and moves along quickly. The wealth of characters and skirmishes keeps me eager for the next chapter. I love this series. And Luke Daniels is unparalleled in keeping his characters voices distinct and separate. I love his performances.
J.N. Chaney is a masterful author. I am ready to read/listen to everything he produces - especially with Luke Daniels as the narrator.
