Historia
Charming and heroic, there’s nothing about Gabriel Woodruff that Avery Burke doesn’t love. His warm brown eyes, his generosity, that small scar above his lip. The newspaper photo of him carrying her from a burning home only adds to the romance of it all. A fairytale beginning and a picture-perfect marriage practically guarantees Avery and Gabriel a ride into the sunset. But every relationship has flaws, and what they ignored while they were busy being flawless eventually surfaces. The unraveling begins with the smallest tug on the tiniest string.

So much more than a second chance romance
Revisado: 09-11-24
Plot 5/5
Narration 4.5/5
Spice 2/5
This book was incredible. It was so much more than a second-chance romance. Each month, I document which books affected me the most, and in September it was this one. It made such an impact. I love when authors shake up the typical structure of any trope, and make it their own.
Tropes:
✌🏼 Second-Chance Romance
💔 Heartbroken Hero
🚒 Firefighter MMC
❤️Insta-Love
✨Strong Character Development
🌶️ Angst and Longing
💖 Soutmates
The author divided the book into two parts, so I plan to discuss each of them separately:
Part 1-
In this section, we get to sit in on Avery's therapy sessions. We don't know until the very end of part one why she's in therapy. We just know these sessions take place between part on and two, so that dynamic was very fascinating to me. We do know that they both fell hard and fast. They had an inst-love.
Avery: Had to grow up way too quickly, so when Gabriel came along, it was nice having someone else take care of her, versus having to take care of others. This was inevitably a uge issue when faced with major flaws in Gabriel. Her coping mechanism was to cover for others, and minimise her own feelings.
Gabriel: He was perfect until he wasn't. He could never truly be himself. He didn't really feel allowed or able to discuss things from his past, so he kept them hidden and never healed from them.
Part 2-
The aftermath of a failed relationship, and a road to healing and forgiveness.
Avery: She had grown a lot in the 2 years she'd spent away from Gabriel, but when he came back into her life, she finally found the strength to speak her truth to him.
Gabriel: Made a complete 180 in overcoming addiction. I am so proud of his character developement! Jennifer did what she promised. Gave us a complete character redemption. A well deserved HEA!
Conclusion: The ending was incredibly satisfying. Having had someone close deal with alcoholism, this book meant so much. I felt so seen because I also covered for them. I made excuses for them, and I found it hard to confront them when they wouldn't confront it themselves. I felt responsible for them, when it shouldn't have fallen on my shoulders.
“I don’t love you the way I used to.”
She lifts her head, her gaze curious.
“Explain.”
“It’s tangible now.”
My hand caresses her bare back.
“Something I can hold in my palm. Love feels different after you fight for it.”
Thank you Valentine PR and Jennifer for the ALC!

Historia
Rossi is his own worst enemy. He doesn’t care what people think or what’s expected of him. And he’s reached the pinnacle of his sport because of his bad boy ways. He’s unpredictable and reckless on the track. He’s even worse off of it. After years of circling around each other, all it took was one night, one uncharacteristic act of chivalry, to know I wanted more with the man everyone hates.

K. Bromberg Makes Formula 1 sexy!
Revisado: 09-04-24
Plot: 4.5/5
Spice: 3/5
Narration: 4.5/5
Per usual, K. Bromberg has found a way to make something else incredibly sexy. I now feel the need to familiarize myself with Formula 1 racing after plowing through these books.
Narration: Duel style. Teddy and Stephanie were KILLER! Teddy has always been a favorite of mine, which will liley never change. I see no wrong in anything he does. Stephanie was the perfect Sofia!
At the end of Over the Limit (book 3) you find out the next story in the line is Rossi's. I would be lying it I said I wasn't nervous, and also incredibly curious how K was going to give us a good redemption story. She freaking killed it! I found myself getting more frustrated with Sofia than I did Rossi! Who would have thought... not I!
Rossi: Sexy beast. He was filthy-mouthed in the sheets. I felt bad for Blaire because he was obviously holding back on her for 10 years. His redemption story was something I didn't even know I needed. I went in just hoping for the plot to be decent and I am happy to report that it was better than I intended.
Sofia: Due to her family dynamic, she was childish, in a way, when the book started. She wasn't really living for herself, and was constantly putting her own feelings aside. I found myself really aggravated with her because, in all fairness, Rossi hadn't been a "playboy" for that long. He got out of a serious relationship, went a little crazy, but it wasn't who he was as a person. I'm glad Sofia finally decided to see past the exterior he put up to defend himself, but I was disappointed in her ability to think for herself, and not have her brother define other people for her.
If you're looking for a sports romance that isn't hockey, football, or baseball, look no further! K. Bromberg never fails to deliver!

Trust no one. I learn that the hard way after hockey star Carter Masters stabs me in the back and turns our rival school against me. Suddenly, I'm public enemy number one at Framingham State. Just a year later, that's exactly where I'm forced to enroll. No one has forgotten what I did. The anti-Sydney campaign is led by two gorgeous, psycho hockey players. Oliver Ruiz, captain, and Penn Walker, the devastating goalie.

My favorite S. Massery read to date!
Revisado: 07-29-24
Let me start by saying the I read this book before buying the audio. It was SO GOOD that I decided to purchase the audio. My only complaint is that it's duel narration, which in no way reflects how incredible the narrators or the plot is! It's still a 5/5 listen and read!
In true S. Massery fashion, I immediately hated all of the MMC's, but that's the intended effect on us. I love how she builds up towards how they end up redeeming themselves. I immediately feel for Carter once his stalker tendencies arose, and he absolutely destroyed Andi and Kate for her. Penn naturally came second with the intensity of his infatuation, and Oliver was a slow build (there's always that lingerer in every Why Choose).
The scene in the coach's office threw me off a bit and it aggravated (again, the intended effect).
Overall, I would be thrilled for more of Syd, Carter, Penn, and Oliver's story. Maybe even a little MM in the future. (because there were plenty of moments that I thought it was about to surface!) I also feel jipped because Scarlett didn't get her ass kicked in this book LOL
Quotes:
"Sydney Windsor is an elixir I didn't know I needed."- Carter
"If you wanna run away from the fucked-up town, leave the trauma behind, I'll go with you. I'd follow you anywhere."- Penn
"I want you to crawl under my skin just as surely as I want to be under yours. You live in my thought without fail. I truly think I carved out my heart and gave it to you, and you've been holding it safe ever since. It's the only way to explain how I fell with you and without you. That's to say, complete with you. And achingly empty without."- Oliver

The narration was not good, but the story is GREAT
Revisado: 07-09-24
The story was well written, even though the narration was awful. I don't use that term lightly. The male narrator could not do a female voice at all. It was so awkward to listen to. I ended up just skipping over those parts and physically reading them.

Historia
It all started when my brother, Paul, convinced me to go on one last family road trip across the Mother Road with him and my dad. Just like old times, right? Wrong. What Paul fails to mention is his best man, Porter, will be joining us, who just so happens to be my childhood crush and the man who broke my heart four years ago. What is supposed to be a fun family bonding experience across Route 66 turns into a war of pranks, awkward moments and bathrooms full of dirty flannel shirts and day-old beard clippings.

Probably THE BEST steamy rom-com ever
Revisado: 07-09-24
The narration on this was duel, but it was still great! I can't remember ever laughing as hard as I did listening to this book. I have no idea how JF kept it together while he was narrating it.
The storyline itself was just so precious. Dad takes his two adult kids on a road trip their deceased mother planned. Brother's best friends joins in, and I'm sure you can tell where it ended!
The MMC and FMC were absolutely perfect, despite the few bumps in the road they had. The MMC definitely got in his way for many years, but their "make-up" sessions were SO HOT!
Meghan Quinn writes the best steamy rom-coms!!!

You don't mess around with a teammates ex. Ever. But that's easier said than done when it comes to Blair Carmichael. She's sexy, intelligent, gorgeous, and one hundred percent off-limits. And I've never fallen harder. But I can't touch (when I most definitely want to). My teams success and my chance at a new contract for next season depend on me keeping my hands on the wheel. And off her curves.

My favorite of the series!
Revisado: 06-26-24
I am always 100% honest in my reviews of books.
My only true complaint with this audiobook is that it wasn't duet! Gary and Stella KILLED IT! They both do a great job performing as the opposite sex, but it would have added to the story.
The plot was perfect, and so was Lachlan. Ughhhh. I swooned so many times over him. The way he loved and protected Blair was just everything you could ever want in an MMC.
I, without a doubt, found this to be my favorite book in the series.
Blair took a lot of crap from her shitty ex before breaking it off, and Lachlan thought he could never find someone to take care of him the way Blair did. Them finding and fixing each other was the perfect love story. We all love a little forbidden love, and we all love an MMC that denies himself a chance at happiness because he believes he can only put himself first to get through life. It's always exciting when he chooses to put the FMC first, and eventually give into those feelings.
I've covered the love part of this story, but I'd also like to mentioned that K. Bromberg writes sports WELL. The coverage of the sport was incredibly accurate. I could tell a lot of research into the sport had been done. I could sway that about most of K's books. I don't ever find myself questioning the accuracy of anything.

Abel, Ronan, Wells, and Bishop were my friends at one time. I was the only girl they would let into their inner circle. Now they hate me. They think I’m a traitor. And I don’t know why. The best parts of this book were JF Harding
Revisado: 06-26-24
I picked this up because of JF Harding. I was bummed to find that he narrated very little, and what he did narrate, was mostly past scenes when he was just a kid. I think it would have made the book better if it had been narrated in duet.
The plot in this book was decent enough that I also purchased the second one. I wished it hadn't been so short, and had a bit more plot to work with. That being said, I believe I also finished it because it was so short.

Year after year, Willa stands by, watching as the bartender/playboy drowns his demons in beer and sex. Then one night, he shows up at her door, suddenly aware that the girl he's seen around Lark Cove is now a beautiful woman. Except what he doesn't remember is that this visit isn't his first. They spent a night together once before. A night he's forgotten, thanks to a bottle of tequila. A night that crushed a timid girl's heart and set a broken man on the path to heal them both.

Nice light read with great narrators
Revisado: 06-26-24
Aaron and Maxine performed amazingly, as they often do. I wished this had been in duet, but they seem to have the reverse gender voice down pretty well.
Jackson and Willa were a well matched couple. I did find myself getting annoyed at times with her tepidness, and Jackson's self-deprecation, but overall it was enjoyable. The ending felt a bit rushed, and lacked a bit of excitement, but it was a sweet romance. Definitely the type you'd read when you're looking for something light, still containing some passion.

No one knows what happens up at Midnight Manor. The home of the Voss brothers sits like a sentinel looking down on our small town, remaining a mystery. The four brooding billionaires rarely leave the confines of the iron gates, fueling rumors that have existed for decades. When my father dies, all the security I’ve known is ripped away, forcing me to come face to face with the eldest brother, Asher Voss. His outward beauty is just as I’d heard—it belies a predatory nature, irresistibly drawing me in.

Overall, I'd give this a 4. The plot could have been improved upon, and the foundation of the relationship felt a bit rushed, but the audio performance deserves a 5! I enjoy Piper, and I think she writes really good "dark" material! I can't wait to get more of the brother's stories!

Ehhhhh The narration saved this book
Revisado: 06-24-24
The plot is very generic, and a little predictable. I don't like giving bad reviews, and I don't think this book necessarily needs one, but I 100% believe Stella and JF are what made me want to finish it. I'm not sure if I would have felt the same about the story if I physically read this. I really wanted to love it! I know the reviews are mixed on it. It was mostly spicy, by the plot was just a little bland. It's also not very long which helped.
