Tough listen
Revisado: 10-29-19
Good content, but the narrator made it challenging to listen. She sounded as if she was simply reading the book. Perhaps I have gotten jaded listening to audiobooks where the narrator makes it sound as if she was speaking to me. The editing was fairly poor; it was blatantly obvious when clips were added after the initial recording. This made it a big distraction. The saving grace was that the content truly resonated with me and some very good insights presented

Very helpful audiobook
Revisado: 08-16-19
Jackson states that he is not a therapist but I found that he ties together many deep complex psychological concepts into his model of the "Protective Self". This model identifies various issues and provides a path and general plan towards healing. I would recommend this audiobook to anyone seeking healing from trauma regardless of whether they are in or exiting from a toxic relationship.

Truly enjoyed in all respects
Revisado: 08-08-19
This book provided many great insights. This is a title that I would recommend to anyone who wants to understand themselves and their attachment styles and understand those around them. The ideas and concepts were provided in a simple straightforward manner. The exercises were very valid and certainly helpful. There is so much good information here that I will definitely go through it again and possibly multiple times especially since the tone and cadence of the narrator's voice is pleasant.

Historia
Everyone thrives on love, comfort, and the safety of family, friends, and community. But if you are denied these basic comforts early in life through a lack of physical affection or emotional bonding, you may develop intense fears of abandonment that can last well into adulthood - fears so powerful that they can actually cause you to push people away. If you suffer from fears of abandonment, you may have underlying feelings of anger, shame, fear, anxiety, depression, and grief.

Excellent content, narrator not so much
Revisado: 07-18-19
The content and information provided is truly excellent. Listening to the narrator was excruciating. The sing-song voice made it difficult for me to listen through for long periods. The author provides tools and materials on her website which are very helpful. Would recommend this book for anyone working on improvement after childhood abandonment and other trauma.
