Characters are beautifully and individually developed in the various but cleverly interconnected stories.
Revisado: 06-02-24
Lively, well-developed characters. McCall Smith intrigues and worries us, but always shows us in the end that human beings are good.
Robert Ian Mackenzie is a brilliant and engaging narrator. He is true to each of the many characters and makes it a joy to get to know them.

Reader is awful!
Revisado: 02-22-24
This narrator is awful. Her herky-jerkey sentences with random stops and starts are terrible. She makes following the story stressful and unpleasant for the listener.

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Great story + superb narrator
Revisado: 03-27-23
A window on how drugs like heroin and Fentanyl are destroying the youth of Appalachia, and how just a few are able to escape its clutches. Told sparing no details, but with great empathy and hope.

Historia
Here is a timeless tale of waterside Britain that has been loved by generations of children and acclaimed as a classic. The story of Mole, Ratty, Badger, and Toad, and their escapades, whether messing about on the river or poop-pooping in Toad's shiny new car, cannot fail to enchant.

Takes me back to my childhood, with all the familiar woodland characters. Utterly charming. Narrator very pleasing to listen to.
