Historia
Walton and Walton offer in The Lost World of the Torah a restorative vision of the ancient genre of instruction for wisdom that makes up a significant portion of the Old Testament. In the ancient Near East, order was achieved through the wisdom of those who governed society. The objective of torah was to teach the Israelites to be wise about the kind of order needed to receive the blessings of God's favor and presence within the context of the covenant. Here listeners will find fresh insight on this fundamental genre of the Old Testament canon.

Agree to disagree
Revisado: 04-23-25
I don’t agree that the Torah was just words of wisdom. That makes the Ten Commandments the Ten Suggestions. I realize I’m not a Torah expert, but by saying it wasn’t written for us (we are not Old Testament Jews) and has no direct application, makes it a mere set of suggestions.

Historia
Lyndon Baines Johnson was a man of great ambition and enormous greed, both of which, in 1963, would threaten to destroy him. In the end, President Johnson would use power from his personal connections in Texas and from the underworld and from the government to escape an untimely end in politics and to seize even greater power. President Johnson, the thirty-sixth president of the United States, was the driving force behind a conspiracy to murder President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. In The Man Who Killed Kennedy, you will find out how and why he did it. Political consultant, strategist, and Libertarian Roger Stone has gathered documents and used his firsthand knowledge to construct the ultimate tome to prove that LBJ was not only involved in JFK's assassination, but was in fact the mastermind. With 2013 being the fiftieth anniversary of JFK's assassination, this is the perfect time for The Man Who Killed Kennedy to be available to readers. The research and information in this book is unprecedented, and as Roger Stone lived through it, he's the perfect person to bring it to everyone's attention.

This a convincing argument as to what really happened with the assassination of JFK, and others. If these allegations are true, the history of the 60’s needs to be rewritten. It all makes sense, but we may never know for sure… One thing for sure is that none of these men were saints. Shameful!

Historia
Named one of the top books of 2009 by the Times Literary Supplement (London), this controversial and compelling audiobook from Dr. Stephen C. Meyer presents a convincing new case for intelligent design (ID) based on revolutionary discoveries in science and DNA. Along the way Meyer argues that Charles Darwin's theory of evolution as expounded in The Origin of Species did not, in fact, refute ID.

Solid analysis
Revisado: 03-31-25
What seems obvious to some is impossible for others to accept. Intelligent design, climate change, and evolution in general are fields where if you don’t agree with the establishment you are treated like a heretic. I’m glad they stopped burning us at the stake. Now days it’s just being cancelled…. Excellent analysis of the current hypothesis’s, including their shortcomings.

Historia
Henry V reigned over England for only nine years and four months and died at the age of just thirty-five, but he looms over the landscape of the late Middle Ages and beyond. The victor of Agincourt, he is remembered as the acme of kingship, a model to be closely imitated by his successors. William Shakespeare deployed Henry V as a study in youthful folly redirected to sober statesmanship. For one modern medievalist, Henry was, quite simply, “the greatest man who ever ruled England.”

I enjoy history from all over the world, European history is more relatable, since I’ve traveled there extensively. I really enjoyed this book since it gave me a more accurate accounting of the events surrounding the life and times of Henry V. I highly recommend…

Historia
Dr. Peterson guides us through the ancient, foundational stories of the Western world. In riveting detail, he analyzes the Biblical accounts of rebellion, sacrifice, suffering, and triumph that stabilize, inspire, and unite us culturally and psychologically. Adam and Eve and the eternal fall of mankind; the resentful and ultimately murderous war of Cain and Abel; the cataclysmic flood of Noah; the spectacular collapse of the Tower of Babel; Abraham’s terrible adventure; and the epic of Moses and the Israelites.

A Psychologist View of the Bible/Religion
Revisado: 02-01-25
I like Jordan Peterson’s work. I’ve read several of his books and listened to many of his interviews. What I found is that where he fully endorses the need for God, he oftentimes portrays key biblical figures as more of an archetype or as an archetypal roll model. He also ties in religious figures from other religions, who he links with biblical figures. I liked the book, but I feel that he failed to close the loop with his conclusions.

The War on Warriors uncovers the deep roots of our dysfunction—a society that has forgotten the men who take risks, cut through red tape, and get their hands dirty. The only kind of men prepared to face the dangers that the Left pretends don’t exist. Unlike issues of education or taxes or crime, this problem doesn’t have a zip code solution. We can’t move away from it. We can’t avoid it. We have only one Pentagon. Either we take it back or surrender it altogether.

All the democrats will vote “NO”
Revisado: 12-19-24
Pete calls it as it is. Our enemies are salivating over our woke military. What has been done to our military is criminal and people need to be fired (if not more). The incoming president and secretary of defense have to fix this before it’s too late.
This book does an excellent job of laying out all the facts of the current state of affairs, as well as what it will take to fix things. Highly recommended.

Have you heard that language is violence and that science is sexist? Have you read that certain people shouldn't practice yoga? Or been told that being obese is healthy, that there is no such thing as biological sex, or that only White people can be racist? Are you confused by these ideas, and do you wonder how they have managed to challenge the logic of Western society? In this probing volume, Helen Pluckrose and James Lindsay document the evolution of the dogma that informs these ideas, from its coarse origins in French postmodernism to its refinement within activist academic fields.

Eye opening evaluation of what is happening in academia
Revisado: 12-04-24
What I learned is that apparently I’m a racist, sexist, and homophobic and I didn’t even know it. This book really does a great job at explaining the “victimhood mentality” that has taken over our society and education system. This is destroying our society.
There were sections I wished the authors/reader gave me more time between sentences to finish laughing at the lunacy that has infected this country.
Whereas I agreed with most of the conclusions in this book about how to move forward, I disagreed with continuing to support various fields of study that refuse to debate or even discuss their philosophies (no one is allowed to question them).
Another fact is that some of these philosophical opinions verge on mental illness. When do we stop entertaining these ideas and start treating it.
I do recommend the book.

Historia
In 1908, near Folsom, New Mexico, a cowboy discovered the remains of a herd of extinct giant bison. By examining flint points embedded in the bones, archeologists later determined that a band of humans had killed and butchered the animals 12,450 years ago. This discovery vastly expanded America's known human history but also revealed the long-standing danger Homo sapiens presented to the continent's evolutionary richness. Distinguished scholar Dan Flores's ambitious history chronicles the epoch in which humans and animals have coexisted in the "wild new world" of North America.

Started out great, but it drifted at the end
Revisado: 11-14-24
This book started out true to its title, but the last chapters drifted in politics, religion, climate, and personal opinions. First let me start by saying climate change is real, but some of his ideas are clearly off target from the facts. His ideas concerning the “little ice age” are unfounded. He starts to drive a certain point of view… He does the same by using a broad brush when talking about conservatives, Christians, and anyone who doesn’t follow his climate change way of thinking. Rather than just convey the facts about animal extinctions, and efforts to correct past transgressions, he starts pointing fingers. In some cases, unjustifiably so. His bottom line appears to be animals - good / man - bad.

Historia
The foundations of modern knowledge - philosophy, math, astronomy, geography - were laid by the Greeks, whose ideas were written on scrolls and stored in libraries across the Mediterranean and beyond. But as the vast Roman Empire disintegrated, so did appreciation of these precious texts. Christianity cast a shadow over so-called pagan thought, books were burned, and the library of Alexandria, the greatest repository of classical knowledge, was destroyed. Yet some texts did survive and The Map of Knowledge explores the role played by seven cities around the Mediterranean....

Great summary of how knowledge (through the building of libraries) move from one empire and culture to another through history. The challenges and impact on knowledge brought on by how culture and religion interacted was also very insightful.

Excellent and Extraordinary Story
Revisado: 08-31-24
This is an exceptional story about the journey of faith from Islam to Christianity. Having lived and worked in Muslim countries throughout my career I managed to have some conversations with Muslim friends and coworkers. I never really understood what they had to lose. I highly recommend it if you have a heart for Muslims.
