Historia
When the enslaved Jim overhears that he is about to be sold to a man in New Orleans, separated from his wife and daughter forever, he decides to hide on nearby Jackson Island until he can formulate a plan. Meanwhile, Huck Finn has faked his own death to escape his violent father, recently returned to town. As all readers of American literature know, thus begins the dangerous and transcendent journey by raft down the Mississippi River toward the elusive and too-often-unreliable promise of the Free States and beyond.

A slaves perspective on slavery
Revisado: 06-25-24
James was a story that took a classic mark twain novel and spun it back from a slaves perspective very powerful. Wonderful character development. Raw emotions. Highly recommended

Historia
Death was celebrated when the reapers and humans coexisted. Back when the monsters from around The End stayed in their small pocket of existence, only coming out in nightmares and darkness. Ganedyn was paradise and shared its life with its mortal counterpart. Reapers rewarded those at the end of their time on Earth by leading them through the tree in the in-between to an eternity of color, life, and freedom. In return, they would bring tokens back from Ganedyn. Acorns capable of sprouting into an entire forest and flowers capable of curing disease. Everything was in balance.

Revisado: 01-13-19
I loved this book. The characters R.K Gold crafted were complex year, so relatable and the fact that it was a fantasy with boys, girls, men, women, and imaginary creatures made identifying with them an easy thing to do .
The dialogue and writing were superb as well and I really enjoyed Julie Hinton’s’ perfo
rmance
Five stars all the way around and I will now wait for further adventures by Mr. Gold!

Jefferson too complex to write a single volume. This was a wonderful portrait with details painted with a broad stroke. Plus the wonderful reading by the late Edward Hermann makes it a memorable treat

Historia
Historians have long told the story of America’s birth as the triumph of Jefferson’s democratic ideals over the aristocratic intentions of Hamilton. Chernow presents an entirely different man, whose legendary ambitions were motivated not merely by self-interest but by passionate patriotism and a stubborn will to build the foundations of American prosperity and power.

Important lessons for today
Revisado: 07-05-16
East West Street is a must read for today because it reminds us that evil exists amongst us and must always be seen
Hans Frank's son was a family member who chose to disavow the evil of his father. A good lesson for nations.

Historia
A tour de force of historical reportage, America’s Bank illuminates the tumultuous era and remarkable personalities that spurred the unlikely birth of America’s modern central bank, the Federal Reserve. Today, the Fed is the bedrock of the financial landscape, yet the fight to create it was so protracted and divisive that it seems a small miracle that it was ever established. For nearly a century, America, alone among developed nations, refused to consider any central or organizing agency in its financial system.
