Historia
Everyone agrees that education is the key to creating a more just and equal world, and that our schools are broken and failing. Proposed reforms variously target incompetent teachers, corrupt union practices, or outdated curricula, but no one acknowledges a scientifically-proven fact that we all understand intuitively: academic potential varies between individuals, and cannot be dramatically improved.

I loved how the three women became family and they had a positive attitude. The three knew to reflect and stay true to themselves.

Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

I loved the tea rooms and the food. The characters were wonderful with real lives. Life is not easy and the book shows how friendships and forgiveness will make life better. A light hearted book, not too heavy and better than TV!

Reminiscent of earlier books!
Revisado: 10-06-21
This book was perfect for my age group (60’s). The character development is unique and I know each person well, like my own family. I can see the good the bad and I like them and some qualities, I don’t! When I read/listen to a Liane Moriarty book, I feel like I have just taken a trip to visit family. I’m always sad to say goodbye.

The author could have trusted the readers and give so much more background. Dystopian literature is not for me. The narration is superb! Ms. Danés voice is easily followed and she is a natural storyteller.

Historia
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Read the early books- not this one
Revisado: 10-16-19
Major disappointment. I kept telling myself, “just stop listening to it”. Well, I made it to the end and it was a waste of valuable listening time! Mr. Gladwell is hung up with the political garbage that is going on today. He is retelling past news events with his own spin. We, our society has lost the meaning of Human. We must find our way back to humility, humbleness and compassion. Read his earlier books, those were great.
