Historia
Chief of Police Ed Kapenash is about to retire. Blond Sharon is going through a divorce. But when a 22-million-dollar summer home is purchased by the mysterious Richardsons—how did they make their money, exactly?—Ed, Sharon, and everyone in the community are swept up in high drama. The Richardsons throw lavish parties, flirt with multiple locals, flaunt their wealth with not one but two yachts, and raise impossible hopes of everyone they meet. When their house burns to the ground and their most essential employee goes missing, the entire island is up in arms.

Great, until it wasn’t, then great again!

Really enjoyed the book until the last chapter. I understand why Elin wanted to narrate it herself but it completely ruined the experience for me. After listening to Erin for so many hours the drastic change to Elin was quite jarring. It could have been much more moving but she read so fast with barely any appropriate pauses or voice changing. It all sounded like one big paragraph or run on sentence. I didn’t know who was speaking when. I am glad I did listen to their discussion after and then discovered after that discussion was the final chapter read by Erin. SO MUCH better and you could really feel the emotion behind the swan song.
