Historia
In the year 2107, the world has both made astounding leaps forward and reduced humanity to its most basic existence. While the megacorps and those who rule them enjoy lives of extraordinary comfort and ease, most people barely scrape by, doing whatever they can to keep going. Juliet Bianchi is one of the latter. She works cutting metal in a scrapyard and doesn't have much to show for it except for a small group of equally bereft, fiercely loyal friends. Still, she maintains a bright disposition, possessing more hope and optimism than anyone would expect her to—and she's going to need it.

great cyber but needs more punk
Revisado: 04-19-25
If you love cyberpunk this is worth a listen. The setting and tech are right on for the genre, but the characters and dialogue are too perky and vanilla.
It's a promising start though, and the story is engaging with excellent pacing. The author does a good job of updating the wired cyberpunk genre to the wireless age.The narrator is a great fit and brings life to the words.
I'll definitely get the next audiobook in the series.

Historia
Lynesse is the lowly Fourth Daughter of the queen, and always getting in the way. But a demon is terrorizing the land, and now she's an adult (albeit barely) with responsibilities (she tells herself). Although she still gets in the way, she understands that the only way to save her people is to invoke the pact between her family and the Elder sorcerer who has inhabited the local tower for as long as her people have lived here (though none in living memory has approached it).

The Malazan Empire simmers with discontent, bled dry by interminable warfare, bitter infighting and bloody confrontations with the formidable Anomander Rake and his Tiste Andii, ancient and implacable sorcerers. Even the imperial legions, long inured to the bloodshed, yearn for some respite. Yet Empress Laseen's rule remains absolute, enforced by her dread Claw assassins.

D&D fanfic
Revisado: 09-14-23
Literally Dungeons & Dragons fanfiction with too many characters, very little character development, and no real plot arc.
The narrator is excellent, although some of the way some of the characters speak is annoying.
It's just a million events from a dozens of characters loosely tied together, and all problems solved by Deus ex Machina.
The prose is pretty though.

skip this audiobook
Revisado: 06-26-23
I struggled to finish this one. It reads like Wells' Raksura books, but with less heart and confusing time jumps.
The narrator is the worst I've ever heard. Voices are not distinct, there's little emotion or inflection, and he races through each sentence. It's so staccato and makes it hard to follow an already hard to follow book.
The characters abilities/magic, and details of the fantasy setting were interesting, but that could not make up for the terrible narration.
I loved Wells' other works, but this one is such a disappointment.

Exciting finale to the trilogy

Full of action, excitement, and answers to most of the questions about the Final Architecture universe.
The narrator's performance is once again excellent.
This series is one of the greats of space opera.

Revisado: 03-02-23
Bought this based on strong recommendations, but I couldn't finish it. The prose sounds like it's trying too hard, the characters are not engaging, and the storytelling mechanic just makes things convoluted.
I really wanted to like this. Narration was good at least. The author shows promise, so hopefully future books are better and less forced.

The story is good, but they changed voice actors. the new guy is ok, but mispronounces several names and several of his voices don't match the characters.
