How do you ruin classic principles of stoicism? Holiday does just that.

First, The Obstacle is the Way by Holiday is great and I recommend THAT book... But this book? Terrible. It has the feel of an author with nothing new to say, not even new twists to add, but who wants to squeeze another paycheck out of his trusting base.

Sad, as it indicates his true character does not align with what he preaches. But hey, we all make mistakes... luckily you can avoid the mistake of wasting your money on this book.

Abridged with ZERO warning. Total and complete BS. Super ticked off that no where in the title or headline or publisher's summary does it mention being abridged. Unfortunately I didn't scroll down one more tick to see the reviews mentioning that.

the ending felt like it was building to something great and then it just fluttered off and and there was a quick summary and then it ended. performance rated lower because the words would describe how a voice should be and yet The Voice was essentially the same as it was in all the other parts.

Update: The more I see this in the library the more it irritates me... when an author says, "her beauty was so great words cannot describe it" or "the pain was so great words cannot...." or "the heat..." or "the music..." etc.... it's a cop out. After further reflection and so many better options I am dropping my rating.

Laughter and Understanding Win the War

John has a contagious perspective on fear. He breaks down fear's tactics in enjoyable and easy to understand ways. This is especially true if you are a Bible believing, Christ follower like me. While those are not prerequisites from benefiting from this book, your foundation will surely be strengthened as you fortify yourself to win the War on Fear.

- lack of depth or how to's for the presented concepts
- terms/names used for certain concepts were like nails on the cliche chalkboard

good emphasis, voice fluctuations with presenting content

if you can get past cringe-worthy/cheesy phrases like "zone of genius" there are some good concepts but don't expect to have the book take you anywhere of depth or value....you'll have to figure that out on your own.
