Quite a unique story. Her stories about life with actual living breathing North Koreans definitely lends some needed humanity to the gray clad masses that come to mind when one thinks of the NK population.

Also quite thought provoking. I listened as I was walking at night on the trails through my Denver subdivision on a chilly spring morning. I had warmth waiting at home, all of the houses in the neighborhood were lit, and the airport was 20 mins away from which I could freely fly to anywhere I wanted. It made me think about where those poor kids are these days, and if they are still "fed up" with the same old nonsense from their country.

Kinda pissed me off to hear about the crazy Christian fundies who wouldn't let her show Harry Potter to her North Korean class. Bastards.

But anyway, quite a badass story. you should definitely read/hear it!

Any additional comments?

This seems like a pretty solid book so far. My big problem with it isn't the content or quality, but just the format.

I buy my audiobooks to listen to while I'm driving or walking. Unfortunately this is one of those books that has lots of little writing exercises to do (Step one, write a bunch of stuff down....).

So I'll be trying for a refund on this and buying the Kindle version.

If you could sum up Scrappy Little Nobody in three words, what would they be?

IdowhatIwant, Anna Kendick!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Scrappy Little Nobody?

I dunno if memorable would really be the word I would use, but ok. I liked the story about the yacht. I feel the same way about them. And it was refreshing to hear a story about a healthy and well adjusted child actor for a change.

Any additional comments?

I'm not the kind of guy who would ever normally read something like this, not sure why I bought it...ok she's hot, and I had an Audible credit, but honestly it made me laugh and was worth it. I have and would recommend it.

Good book, bad choice for an audio book

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Sure, the author is a gnarly guy and is quite inspiring.

Could you see Awaken the Giant Within being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Hmmmm........what?

Any additional comments?

As I said in the headline, I'm sure that this is a great book, but it does something that many other audio books do that drives me crazy. Right as I'm driving down the highway, or running along a trail, all of a sudden the author says something like, "Ok, stop what you're doing! Get a pen and paper and write all this s**t down! Don't proceed until you've done this!"

I've noticed that quite a few good books do this, and it just doesn't work when it comes to an audio book...unless you're the type of listener who puts headphones on and sits down at your desk to listen.
