Historia
When Edmund Hillary first conquered Mt. Everest, Sherpa Tenzing Norgay was at his side. Indeed, for as long as Westerners have been climbing the Himalaya, Sherpas have been the unsung heroes in the background. In August 2008, when eleven climbers lost their lives on K2, the world’s most dangerous peak, two Sherpas survived. They had emerged from poverty and political turmoil to become two of the most skillful mountaineers on earth. Based on unprecedented access and interviews, Buried in the Sky reveals their astonishing story for the first time.

Excellent source for K2 2008 Disaster
Revisado: 09-21-20
The authors seems that they did a lot of field work in order to get the right info. The narrator performance is excellent.. I cannot recommend this book enough to any one interested in what happened on K2 in 2008

Historia
At 28,251 feet, the world's second-tallest mountain, K2 thrusts skyward out of the Karakoram Range of northern Pakistan. Climbers regard it as the ultimate achievement in mountaineering, with good reason. Four times as deadly as Everest, K2 has claimed the lives of seventy-seven climbers since 1954. In August 2008 eleven climbers died in a single thirty-six-hour period on K2–the worst single-event tragedy in the mountain's history and the second-worst in the long chronicle of mountaineering in the Himalaya and Karakoram ranges.

Historia
For 18 years, Ed Viesturs pursued climbing's holy grail: to stand atop the world's 14 8,000-meter peaks, without the aid of bottled oxygen. But No Shortcuts to the Top is as much about the man who would become the first American to achieve that goal as it is about his stunning quest. As Viesturs recounts the stories of his most harrowing climbs, he reveals a man torn between the flat, safe world he and his loved ones share and the majestic and deadly places where only he can go.

Historia
Mount Kilimanjaro is sometimes called "Everyman's Everest" because it is possible for a novice climber to reach the summit. And every year, more than 30,000 adventure tourists try. But for each person who goes to the mountain, there are thousands more who chat about it at parties, making plans to go...someday. That's how Daniel Dorr got started: flirting with a beautiful brunette and spouting impressive plans. Six months later, he was lying on the gravel trail at 18,000 feet, panting and hacking in the darkness.

The book emphasizes that Kilimanjaro is a tough mountain
Revisado: 08-18-18
I think many people including myself think that Kilimanjaro would be an easy climb. Yes when it comes to the terrain and weather stability compared to other summits higher than 5000m. If there is only one thing you can learn from this book, it’s the preparation, especially the mental presentation. Overall, good book for climbing Kilimanjaro.

Once you download the book you can't wait to finish it
Revisado: 03-25-18
Christopher McDougall is a great story telling and the narrater is the best I came across so far on Audible. The incredible characters in the book made the story more appealing. The bottom line is that if you don't run this book will make you a runner, and if you're a runner this book might make an ultrarunner. Now I doubled my running distance and started to think differently towards my runs. The book is highly recommended for everyone. God bless you all.
