Well surprise surprise!

I was a little apprehensive about the change in genre for Faith Hunter. I only listened to the story because she is an awesome writer. But I was not disappointed. Breaking into a new genre is hard coming from Urban Fantasy to Sci-Fi but with this story she smashed into the scene with an awesome story. This story picks up quickly and doesn’t let go!

It’s a sure thing

I loved it! The story picks up with Lexie and Kieran racing against the clock. Valen’s will be coming once he figured everything out. Lexie’s happily ever after is so close but so far. This story is non stop and does not disappoint. We have been building up to this point for three books. Lexie must embrace who and what she is even if it scares her. I have read the kindle version twice now and listened three times to audio. Kristine Hvam is by far one of the best narrators. If you are looking for a sure thing with lots of laughs, action, and steaminess do yourself a favor and enjoy this story.

Very interesting!

So there are a million vampire stories out there. Authors take a concept and run with it and often times it becomes redundant. This was not the case here. I think people will find Sam very relatable. She is experiencing a lot of problems that everyday people experience but there is an added problem that adds to her angst. I kept think what would I do if I were in her shoes and that made me keep reading/listening. Her story is so different from other stories that are out about vampires and I believe that's what keeps you roped in. This is a long series but I am excited for what is next.

A bit more please

I have listened and read everything Ilona Andrews has put out but when they announce a change of narrator I was a bit crushed. Reneé Raudman has been hands down one of the best narrators ever. But with that being said Emily Rankin was also great. She really brought Catalina to life. This story was more so about her and the struggles of finding yourself and your own voice. I really understand her a lot more now and I am just as invested in her story as I would be with Nevada. Rogan’s mother is everything i had hoped she would be as well. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

hard to read

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I wanted to like this story but I just couldn't. After listening to the first several chapters I almost quit listening to the story. It just dragged on and on. Something interesting would happen then it would go back to being dull. There was a lot of sex scenes many that were not necessary. I remember thinking you are surrounded by danger people are ready to kill you and how do you defend yourself. Sex! I appreciate Lily's struggles but the two main characters sunk the book for me. The supporting characters like Rosa, Arley, and the other men in Ryland's group brought in some much needed humor. You just liked them all and their relationship. Then ending also was just meh. I would have to really think hard about continuing this series.

Good surprise

This was a very interesting story. I love urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Most times you find the same story over and over but in this case I was pleasantly surprised. I loved Janet and Mick. Janet seemed like most of us trying to figure it all out while growing up and finding out the world is quite different in the eyes of an adult vs. that of a child. Nash got on my nerves. I wanted to really just throw y hands up every time he opened his mouth. This story is action pack and steamy but for a first book in a series does a good job setting up this world. Looking forward to what is to come.

I’m conflicted

I kinda sorta loved hated liked this story. I can tell this isn’t all Vi Keeland’s writing. It kinda felt like that story we used to write in class where you write a sentence and then the next person writes the next and so on and so on. By the end you have the craziest story. Half way through the book I couldn’t figure out why I was still reading it. It does end very very well. I laughed so hard at the ending it was worth all the crazy twists and turns in the second half of the book. I probably wouldn’t read this one again but I am glad I finished it.
