Historia
A witch's curse ensures that a boy can never wake at night nor sleep when the sun beams. Conversely, a girl is doomed never to sleep at night nor be awake during the daylight hours. Finally, a twist of fate unites them. MacDonald's skill and imagery and grandfatherly style deliver a remarkable story that is accessible and light, yet acutely stirring and imbued with enduring value. Your capacity for imagination is sure to grow through this story that lifts our spirits and fills our minds with joy.

Historia
A brand-new, unabridged recording of Baroness Orczy's classic tale of adventure, read by Julian Rhind-Tutt. Paris, 1792. The Terror has begun. Every day, scores of the French nobility are delivered to the guillotine. Trapped in the capital, they have no way of escape. But rumours abound of a league of young English gentlemen who are risking their lives to spirit French aristocrats away to safety across the Channel. Led by a man known only as the 'Scarlet Pimpernel', they leave no trace behind them save a single note.

After watching an old movie version and seeing it was based on this book, I downloaded the audio version.
The performance was easy to listen to and the story is one I couldn’t put down. Lots of suspense and unexpected twists and turns, with romance besides. Loved it, will listen again, would recommend!

Historia
A Tale of Two Cities is one of Charles Dickens's most exciting novels. Set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, it tells the story of a family threatened by the terrible events of the past. Doctor Manette was wrongly imprisoned in the Bastille for 18 years without trial by the aristocratic authorities.

10/10 Would Recommend

Somehow I missed being assigned to read this book in grade school... and I'm actually really glad that I got to experience it as an adult, for its own merits. I can see why it's a classic. The story is exciting and complex, with intricately woven details that make for surprising moments later in the book. It's interesting now watching some of the film versions and comparing what they have to simplify for the screen. The story is so rich and applicable to the world we live in, despite the historical distance. I enjoyed the narration but the best part about it was that it was not too distracting, it just let me focus on the story.

Fun, Unexpected Read. Definitely Recommend.
Revisado: 12-10-19
Deep, lovable characters and a plot that kept me guessing. The pacing is quick and easy to listen to. A believable take on an outlandish premise. It manages to be very fun and lighthearted while also dealing respectfully with some serious topics. I thoroughly enjoyed it. There's a little bit of language, in case that's a concern for some listeners.
