Historia
If the broken neon signs, shuttered storefronts, and sub-standard housing didn’t tip you off, you’ve just wandered into the city of “Undisclosed”. You don’t want to be caught dead here, because odds are you just might find yourself rising from the grave. That hasn’t stopped tourists from visiting to check out the unusual phenomena that hangs around our town like radioactive fallout. Interdimensional parasites feeding on human hosts, paranormal cults worshipping demonic entities, vengeful teenage sorcerers, we’ve got it all.

Jason - PLEASE - never, EVER STOP!!!!
Revisado: 01-27-23
I have now read all 4 books. I mean, how could you not? First, who doesn't love a good apocalypse but especially one made even better by this cat of characters. But you can help but love John, Dave, and Amy. Oh, and Joy, of course. I must be a clown...
Loved each one, the only problem now is - WE NEED A NEW ONE!
Guess I'll have to go watch the movie, except I'm afraid it will ruin my visual picture of our unlikely heros.
More please Jason. Just stop whatever else you're doing...
Seriously, thanks for so much great fun.

Historia
Known by the name of the psychological experiment that fostered his emotionless brutality, Skinner founded his career in "asset protection" on fear. To touch anyone under Skinner's protection was to invite destruction. A savagely effective methodology, until Skinner's CIA handlers began to fear him as much as his enemies did and banished him to the hinterlands of the intelligence community.

Loved the Book
Revisado: 12-20-22
I I'm not sure where the negative reviews came from but I loved the book. I even thought they were leaving reviews for a different book by mistake.
I will say, I think the snippet describing the book does not do a good job. The autism/Asperger's angle is unique, but not certain - by Skinner's own admission. It could just be his childhood conditioning.
I thought the reader did a great job, especially with the characters and defining the different voices to keep them straight. That makes it easier to follow who's speaking in the text for me.
I thought the story was really good, and made me second guess where I thought things were going several times.
I don't know why we haven't seen a Skinner movie, the story is definitely worthy. But I'm still waiting for a Joe Pitt series.
Big fan of Charlie Huston, waiting on a new book. how about a sequel Charlie? O maybe another Henry Thompson... please tell me he is still out there somewhere too!

Historia
The world is in the grip of an epidemic of sleeplessness and one man will risk everything to find out what caused it. In his signature style of fast-paced action, outrageous violence, and graphically described scenes, we are tossed into a dramatic turbulence unlike anything you've ever read or heard.

A new, fantastic take on the "zombie" apocalypse
Revisado: 11-14-22
Not sure how you can be bored or disappointed in the story but it is a different delivery. I didn't understand the need for two different voices but as they come together, it makes more sense more sense.
I was already a fan of Charlie Huston's stuff having read the whole Joe Pitt series and was insta of how anything would be as good or could take the place of another book in that line. For that reason, I had a hard time choosing a next novel from him. - partly for great if being let down.
This is no let down. I lived the story, loved to hate the characters, and thought the whole idea was a new, imaginative twisty on my favorite genre.
One of the things I loved must read being driven to ask, "what would I do" as the story progressed. Not only about the overarching theme but the little things too.
It's easy to say you'd buy a bunch of guns and hole up in a bunker when the story had an unlikely plot. We might puff up and proclaim how hard we'd fight when the zombies come, knowing it's unlikely they every will. But it's impossible to say how we'd react to the nature of the apocalypse described here and it's impact on those we love.
Loved the book, really loved the ending, and hoping for a follow up. Although, at the same time, maybe not.
Maybe we should leave a little the the imagination, a little something to dream about. :)
Another great story - thanks Charlie!

Historia
Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior's pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there's no one who loves Josh more (except maybe "Maggie," Mary of Magdalan) and Biff isn't about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight.

But this time, it’s the living who desperately need Odd on their side. Three helpless innocents will be brutally executed unless Odd can intervene in time. More like Deeply Awesome!
Revisado: 02-20-15
Odd Thomas has been one of the best characters to pop up in any books in years. His wot and humor are only a small part of his charming personality but those ingredients help make the Odd Thomas series a lot of fun to read. Odd Hours and Saint Odd were really entertaining and I loved seeing the writer's world views woven through the story as Odd's own.
The series is fun from start to finish.
